No starty - might be a Borla issue…!??

Esteemed GT40’ers,

Starting my car has always been smooth sailing. Until today. Can’t get her to go…

She’s been sat for 3 months while I’ve been working abroad - probably the longest rest period in her short life so far. My bad…

My car runs a Prestige Motorsport 363cu.in. motor, with a Borla 8-Stack induction/injection system.

Pump primes fine - usual 3 sec run then cuts.
Starter motor spins fine.
Will cough with a shot of starting spray in a couple of the stacks.
I’ve checked - there’s fuel at pressure in the pipe rail up at the stacks.
The cough makes me think there’s spark.

Feels like It’s like the Borlas not taking and passing fuel?

Would be curious to hear the thoughts of the community on this - not sure what to look at on this one next…

Cheers!!

Does the exhaust smell of petrol…… if so not sparking would be my guess

Can you hear the injectors firing? If not you are into the world of elactrickery

Check ECU fuse to see if it is as simple as that

After that it is multimeter time and checking sensors and resistances per the hand book

At this point it would be worth taking all 8 injectors out and dropping them off at a local shop for cleaning/testing. Cheap insurance and good PM.

No. 1 , please don't use starting fluid unless you want to remove the heads quickly or bend a rod or two !
It's to easy to check for spark, do this first.
What type management system are you using, Holly, dual sync or ??? What are you using for a coil. MSD has been making a lot of JUNK for quite some time.
Remove an injector and watch for a shot to help verify fuel delivery .
It's not hard to pin this down.

Fuel does not go bad in 3 months that would cause the car to not start. The car is coughing because you are shooting fuel into it bypassing the injectors. Agree with Bill - 1. make sure the system is actually shooting fuel from the injectors (what causes the injectors to work? investigate that first. ECU fuse? Bad wire (mouse get it?).

How do you know the fuel is only 3 months old?
Owner said car sat for 3 months, not how old the fuel was.
A friend of mine had difficulty starting his FI car after sitting a long time, we tried all kinds of remedies, put fresh fuel in and it fired right up.

Call Prestige…they will get this straightened out. I had a few problems with my 363 (MPFI with 4 barrel throttle body)….even though it was dynoed at the shop prior to shipping. Initially, Doug figured out that the throttle blades were too closed, choking the motor while it was trying to start. Then he figured out I had an exhaust leak at the header collector…frying my O2 sensor. Then we figured out that I had a bad pin in the fuel injection harness, causing one bank to stop firing. All these problems came up one after the other stretched out over 6 months, as I was trying to get my 66 on the road. Most of the trouble shooting happened after hours on the phone and laptop. Doug and his associates gave me cell phone numbers because of the time difference and my work schedule. Needless to say, this was a big reason I went with them again with the stacked 347 that sitting in a box, waiting to go in my AP 40!

Thanks to those who have replied so far. I live about 20 minutes from where I keep it, and I've only had an hour with the car over the weekend, and made a little progress.

The injectors are not firing and theres no spark. I'm going to look at the Control Unit. Just ran out of time - next weekend's fun...

Wouldn't it be great if it was just the fuse. Speaking of which - where ARE the fuses..?

I’ve found a controller input under the drivers seat - it’s a Holley Terminator X. I know car buddies that have had problems with this controller on their classic (non GT40) Ford. My heart sank a little… anyways - will be calling prestige next.

Many thanks for all input so far…

google holley terminator..
lights indicate lots of things as they should be happening
steady flash of end led is ECU IS ALIVE
Others indicate crank sensor detected, cam sensor detected.. ect.
Also when initial ign on you should hear the hp pump run for approx 3 to 5 seconds and then stop.
when cranking is started then the HP pump should kick in again.
I have terminator running inj with dual sync distributor.

this link shows led's and what they mean..
scroll down a couple pages and there is a big drawing

I have called the Holley tech line with great results solving several hiccups with my Termx/Borla 8stack.
