Rick did you say there is an age factor with these type fuel blatters?

Yes,

The bag tank type bladders do have a half life. I don't know off hand what it is allegded to be, but there very surely is a deterioration that takes place. As I noted, the FAV type of bladder was subject to chafing and wear from the fuel shifting and causing the bladder to move every so slightly in the sponson. As the surfaces it was in contact with were steel and some with some rather unfinished edges and surfaces, the tank was "expendable". FoMoCo was not concerned about the cost of replacing the bladders every so often. You may be.

Perhaps now we could find a material and manufacturer who could eliminate this concern. I personally don't know who or how but I'm sure it could be addressed.......but at what expense? Moulded, contoured bladder bag tanks cost could make the FIA fuel cells Dennis has look like a bargain!
