Well folks,

sorry about the troubles but www.gt40s.com went off the air for a little bit. Apparently we exceeded our bandwidth for the month and we got shut down for a short period. I contacted liquid web and had them upgrade the service package to the next level of available bandwidth and we're back on the air. Only downside is our costs per month have probably gone up as well but we'll see what happens.

Before the addition of picture posting this was basically a non-issue. However, now that we're hosting pictures (we have unlimited server space) we do have to worry about bandwidth which, for those that choose to stay out of it, is simply how much information the server transmits out to folks each month. There isn't much we can do about it, I think it is necessary we accept the higher bandwidth needs since we want the picture hosting and posting ability.

Soon we'll have a gallery as well which will cause another jump in bandwidth but think the utility is worth it. To offset the costs I think I'll ask the manufactuers to contribute a yearly fee/donation to have a special for open for their products. That would offset costs, allow them exposure, and offer utility to owners of their products. Any comments from users?

Thanks for the support from all the users and the two UK clubs, it is certainly appreciated. Fantastic recent GTD Club magazine too lots of great stories but I was saddened to read the story of a young car-loving lad who lost his struggle to hold onto life.

Drop a few statistics about the forum, hits per day / week / month and the growth rate over the last few years.

Agreat job, bigger than you , hersh or myself ever thought.

Unfortunately the stats are hard to condense because we've used three different forum software programs over the years. Right now I can easily get some simple stats on this forum, which hasn't been in use but 4 months or so.

Stats for this site.

Post statistics. This only counts posts in the system. It does not give stats on deleted posts.

So, over 19000 replies to the system in about 2 years (some of the stats carry over from forum board number 2). We consistently average around 20-30 posts a day with holidays being a little light, with the exception of Christmas.

Here is what we have for people:

New Users in past 24 hours 1
New Users in past 7 days 13
New Users in past month 56

Users that have logged in the past 24 hours 71
Users that have logged in the past 7 days 180
Users that have logged in the past month 280

We generally average 1 new user per day and around 70-100 logins per day.

This doesn't tell the entire useage story though because anytime you check to see who is online the Guests outnumber the registered people 2:1. We've got a lot of lurkers that just like the read and I imagine that will increase over time.

I suspect that over the next 6 months we'll have a lot of activity.

I do have a question for users - does anyone have any pull with some of the GT40 sites? I've tried to get the forum listed on some of them, in particular Ken Sanders site, but he just won't do it after repeated emails. Maybe he has decided he doesn't care for the forum community, I don't know.
