Question on red SLC rear clip

I can't remember who's car this is. But I am curious if you have a picture with the rear clip opened up? Do you need to remove the wing to do so? If so, how do you do it? Pictures would be very useful.

Also while you are at it, could you snap a couple of the henge and mounting hardware to the diffuser.

Thanks in advance.

Howard

Howard,

That's Tim's car, one of the very early chassis. It has a custom-fabbed wing mount, but I don't think it flips with the clip.

I don't know if Tim frequents the board much now, since the car is complete.

Howard...

we have done many hinging rear wings and mounts now...drop Vicki and email and she can send you the dimensions so you can dom it yourself if you want...

It allows the tail to hinge a full 90 degrees and the wing is self supporting so no need to worry about a tether when reclined....

We have the tail hinges that allow this in stock...give us a jingle

Yeah, but you probably machined yours from some billet titanium - twice. :)

In Alex world - I used my m4d l33t 3ng1n33r1ng sk1llz to fabricate everything to make it tilt

In reality - I asked Fran to send me the mounts and bolted them up, heh

Alex world sounds much more awesome than reality however :O

Smart use of your time.

It appears that you have been making consistent, quality progress on your car. Most people either slow down/stop or get sloppy.

I like your choice of motor - big, but not so extreme that it's constantly high maintenance. I'm especially curious to hear how those heads work out. The highest numbers I ever saw previously came from etheads.com, but the Mozez blow them away.

Keep up the good work.

We're shooting for as close to 1000hp as we can get, all-the-while minimizing valvetrain wear and tear (so keeping revs around 6600ish instead of revving to the moon) and atleast 150k mile durability. Not cheap but big cubes bigger heads and a crap tonne of expensive parts were a necessity to do it .... I know some people like to pull apart their engines every year, but not me, haha.

Erik's got the internals of the engine pretty much locked up, so the biggest hurdle will be the intake - I'm considering moving away from a carb as the ideal runner length would be around 10'' or so (i.e., not feasible, even with my intention to remove the rear window to have more room), so that means either a sheetmetal intake (which can bring its own challenges) or seeing if i can convince somebody like Caleb to build me a twin throttle body cross ram setup, specifically for the mozez heads and application of the slc.

Howard, here is a shot of my rear clip open with the fixed tail. it's a workable amount of room to do quick work. You have to limbo a bit to get back to the ricardo linkage. If I'm are doing any significant work, i'll probably have to pull the clip. That was Tims car in red.

Cam. So if you don't move the alum wing mounts at all then you can open the rear clip as in the picture, correct. I am interested in being able to open the rear clip for tech inspections at the track. I intend to remove the rear wing when the car is in the garage anyway. I may even routinely remove the rear clip to do pre-track prep shop work.

Thanks Fran. I'll send the shop a email and you guys can send me back the drawings. They will be useful in by own design. Thanks for your help as usual. Also I didn't get the rear clip henges and mounting fixtures with my car. Could you send me a set?

Thanks, Howard

I can also attest to the awesome customer service Fran has given me with the SL-Razor build (being built by Dan from Nirvana Motorsport). I know Ive made the best decision in the exocar market.

Howard, yup, you can get at the shock setting and snake your way to most suspension bolts. I don't have struts yet, just a temporary matco support. Is your exhaust exiting the back or sides?
