Rear Bonnet Opens While Driving

If you take a look at the pictures of 1036's engine compartment at http://www.racingicons.com/gt/1036.htm you can see how the tail latched on an original GT40. Pushing the tail down causes it to latch automatically. The lever for the cable release is inside the black hole at the end of the white stripe.

Kalun, I could almost kiss you LOL ! They are at a third of the price I would have to pay from the UK after they add all the fees on and the exchange . Sir I owe you a few cold ones. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Thanks, Dan. PS this free flow of info really is great on this forum huh !

Here are a few shots of the Ford GT's latching mechanism (four point). It looks you could order them from your favorite Ford dealer ($$$?) and adapt them to a replica without too much trouble.

Note that two latches are shown in this photo, one at the top center and one at bottom left (it may be a standard Mustang door striker by the looks of it).

You can also see the latch for the side striker in this photo at the bottom right.
