Saw 6 GT40s today

Had an interesting day. I drove to Long Island from Boston to check out HRE motorcars to see the monocoque GT40. Anyway, I was driving near the shop and came across Snakepit Motors which had a slew of AC cobras. I was looking around a bit and before my eyes....a restored MKII GT40! Never had seen one before and quite a sight. After Snakepit, I headed off to find HRE.

Once there, I met Bill Andrews. He was very helpful and informative. They had 3 spaceframes and 1 monocoque inside the shop (CAV GTS). The monocoque was a darker silver, not a standard color. I sat in the monocoque found it to be a beautiful machine, inside and out. I must say the workmanship is superb. The car is simply gorgeous. I had never seen an original GT40 or replica until today and was very impressed. The design will never age.

From there, I went into Manhattan to check out the NY auto show and quickly found the 'new' GT40. Although I didn't get to see the old vs new side by side, I must say the original is much better. It is more compact, agressive, purposeful. I can't wait to order one...
