SBF Engine book

Can someone direct me to a good title for a book on practical rebuilding and performance rework of SBF's. I am not really interested in a year by year historical record of FMC engines or how to make 2000 hp with a small block ford. What I really need is a blow by blow how to rebuild and blueprint a SBF with a complete specs section.

As an alternative, try and find a copy of Ford Performance by Pat Ganahl (ISBN 0-931472-05-9). Covers 60s-70s SB and BB, plenty of info on what works and what interchanges plus build sections, recomended.

I've been meaning to pick up a good SBF book...thanks for the recommendation Ron.

Can anyone recommend a book along the lines of Electronic Fuel Injection for Dummies?

Thanks Ron, I'll get one for myself. I want to learn more about SBF's so as to be able to ferrit out the BS. Information is power!

Howard,

Check out the July issue of Car Craft Magazine. Two SBF build articles that might be worth reading. One is the basics of building a 302....I always read this stuff, as you never know what you may have missed in the basics.....The other is an article on a 514HP 347. BTW, the 302 article lists Jim Grubbs Motorsports in the credits. JGM is a local (Valencia, CA) performace motor builder with a real solid Ford reputation. Been around for the long haul. My racer friends think very highly of him.

No....oooo I have it! I like it but it is old enough no to include the type of rocker arms used on the latest SVO motors. The 1/2 turn after 0 valve lash doesn't work. They just went loose in about a min. So I just torqued them down to 25#'s and the motors runs a lot better now. I would like to find out how they really should be done.

I'll post the question on the engine page.
