Thanks for the pictures Dave. I will be following this build. It sounds very interesting.
Best of luck with this project.

Regards Brian

I worked on the chassis the last couple of days' and it is coming together nicely.
Had to change the downrights from the rollbar. First made them to fit a 351W, but the plans change, and i will be going to put in a 4.6 32v DOHC engine from 2001.
I also got my MR2 Shifter assembly in now i can place it and work from that.

Dont mind the surface rust. When it is finished it will be sand blasted an powder coated.
Glass bead or plastic media leaves a smoother finish than sandblasting. For a small part I would use glass beads, plastic media, or walnut shell blasting.

Glass bead will make it so slick the paint wont stick to the surface.
No, glass beads leave a bit of surface roughness ("tooth") for good adhesion but for any paint/primer to adhere properly- especially aluminum- it is necessary to use a proper primer. A self-etching zinc chromate or even a passivation such as Oakite 33 will be about the best that can be done. Sandblasting actually cuts the aluminum surface while glass beads simply peen it.

Got the frame ready for the winter. ( only needs a few brackets for transmission, shocks rear and engine mounts ) Gave it a sprayprotection. Powder Coating will be done in a while.
Also got my engine in. Ordered a Lincoln Continental fwd engine ( needed dome modification to fit ) from a parts place, and for some reason i got a Lincoln Mark VIII 4.6 32v DOHC with Cobra heads on it. Must be my lucky day. More HP, 2 instead of 1 motormount, normal 164 teeth flywheel and bellhousing bolt pattern.

This is awesome. Do you post anywhere else like Facebook? My son is looking to build a one tenth scale gt40 mk1 and is searching for buck slice jpegs or anything that can help him print and mold one out of clay. Would you be able to share where you got the pics you posted? We would love to follow your build. Gerry and James.
