SL-C Carbon Roof question

Is this just an insert that gets bonded on top or does this replace the existing roof section. Might sound like a dumb question. I am assuming it gets trimmed up and just lays on top but I had to ask before I start cutting. I tried to search, but I couldn't find any pics of someone doing an actual install of this piece.

Awesome, thank you. I was concerned about it rolling over the edges where the gaps are already extremely tight.

Is there any information out there with this piece installed? I am just curious around the hinges. I'd just like to see how some others have done it. Thank you.

That guy does amazing work! I just wish his camera was steady! But his videos have helped me a ton thus far!

Aside from Allan's videos, nobody has installed one of these parts?

I am just curious just how much I have to trim off of the original body. I want to make sure I am looking at this install correctly. It seems that I need to trim out the hole in the scoop a decent amount for this piece to fit correctly.

Don't need exact step by step details, just a thumbs up that I'm looking at this correctly, that's all.

Just an update to this, now that the car is painted I can share this. I ended up hand laying carbon on the roof itself. That piece of hot garbage that was sold to the customer was returned. I do believe it had been cut and fitted on a previous vehicle, but that's non of my business.

Basically I primed the roof with black, sanded it with I think 150...not sure its been a min.

Then I fit the carbon piece and used some low tac adhesive to hold it in place. Kind of a pain to get it just right, but thats how I did it. I didnt want to lay this out with it wetted out already. I didnt have much confidence in that.

Then I mixed up this resin and used a foam roller and took my time making sure it penetrated thoroughly, then trimmed it all up after it hardened over night.

I mised up some more of the epoxy resin and went around the edges just for piece of mind.

Once it was hardened up. I lightly sanded the entire surface and sprayed on this to fill all of the voids...It took 2 rounds but it leveled it out nicely. Sprayed it with my poly gun that has a 2.5 tip....it goes on thick! But its clear.

Block that out with 150 and then reapplied

Then just prepped that with 320 and cleared it when I was painting the body.

Also, its 2 pieces with the seam at the hinge area. I struggled to get the carbon to wrap around the scoop are so I just cut it short and that is black in that area.

Ryan, thanks so much! Appreciate all the detail. I may do this as well. Will you use a clear coat to protect it from UV? If so, what coating would you use?

I'd love to share what the original piece looked like that the customer purchased, but I'm not going to start any of that BS.
