With the car being rear-engined, why is the footwell so narrow? Are
all of the GT40's manufactured this way? Thanks!

The gas tanks (2) are on each side of the car

And your feet are forward of the front suspension, thus limiting the width. Of course, if you built a GT40 with a four cylinder transverse powertrain, you could move the seats back, but then you would have your head under the rear glass!

Like the service manager says, "Yep, the're all like that!"

The GT40 is mid engined, a Porsche 911 is rear engined.
The 40 was designed as a race car so internal space was way down a list of design priorities (see Gurney bubble )
