Hi

I used to run the 15 inch Avon slicks, 11 inch wide rears amd 8.5 fronts. The rears you need to set so that they are as vertical as possible as you can have a big footprint. To help here you really need to get a temperature gun and then go out, hammer the car round some corners and then measure the temperatures across the tyre.

Do it in three places. Inside, middle and outside. If the readings are unequal then you need to consider changes. However also use this technique to set tyre pressures.

On the fronts the process should be simililar but you also want to play around with camber to help turn in depending on how stiff you run your anti roll bars and springs. If soft then you may need more camber than if hard.

When you play with these kind of tyres for racing there is only one way to find the best set up and that is play around and see what works for you.

However start with basic factory settings to begin with as they work quite well for most applications. Do you have these settings? I would put them on this posting except my manual is at home and I am not prepared to guess.

Let me know if you want more help.

Malcolm M, while I don't have my GT40 yet, I like your simple straight forward approach and I am going to try it on my present mid-engine car. Thanks
