Well it worked. I have an old Olympus Camedia digital camera 3.3 Megapixel camera that I got as a result of the passing of my father-in-aw. He was the Chief Camera man for WXIA here in Atlanta. He was really into photography and had a studio in his home. He won a national contest sponsored by Marlboro and the camera was one of the many prizes he won. After winning it I introduced him to computers. I included Microsoft Picture-It with the programs that were loaded on the computer. He learned to use digital pictures and never went back to his lab to develop pictures.
All the pictures that I have posted on my build site and elsewere, have been with this camera. This camera is so old the memory chip is the largest it will accept(128 mb).
I borrowed a camcorder from a friend to record the first startup of the car. It was a CD type camcorder. Unfortunately we didn't have the software that allowed the computer to run the CD. So I have toyed with several alternatives including an old mini dv tape camcorder I used for my son when he was in highschool. You guessed it, it had been so long since last used, it ate the tapes. So I decided to try out the movie function of the digital camera.
On the selection knob of the camera you have a choice of looking at the pictures you have taken and two selections of the taking pictures mode. One is "P" and "ASM. I could go into a lot of details but it isn't needed. The third selection was an icon of a movie camera. Used it and got the result you saw. With 128 mb, it last 90 seconds. If you have a "modern camera" you canget several minutes depending onthe memory on your card. Be aware that this function eats batterys like nothing else. The video when I clicked on it was windows Movie Maker I believe. When I clicked on it, it came up in a small widow and played. I uploade it to Photobucket and used the "direct link" to post it here with the "link" above. So It works.
Now for the startup... I have uncovered a few more bugs in the fuel system. A leak or two that will need to be fixed before I can crank it again. Way too dangerous to do otherwise.
Anyway, this should open up a new way to link videos for us all to see, and you don't need an expensive video camera to give us a glimpse of what you are up to.
