Bill D: You ask, you get. Here are some more pics of that cross bar. The one with the tow eye is Dean Lampe's. Note the screening Ray put on his Gulf car. Really nice details on both cars. Dean and Ray have rasied the bar for those of us following behind them (no pun intended):

I would think that as long as the bar you used was substantial enough that you could lift the car if the point of contact was close enough to both sides..

Not sure I would do it that way though.

I'll also be looking into integrating the quick-jack hooks into mine - or making them a bolt-on addition..

My two cents gents....
The front of this chassis is not intented to be a jack point. I would strongly suggest against it. A tow hook is one thing, but a lift point it is not. The front clip is designed as a crumple zone, and is not structural member of the chassis. The bar being strong enough is not the concern here. It's what your attaching the bar to that is the concern.

Rob, I agree. To create more structure for my tow hook I removed the 4 1/4 inch bolts (2 on each side) that hold the aluminum side panals on to the chassis at the top. I re-drilled the holes to 3/8 and put a bolt all the way through with a nut on the inside. I think it should be stong enough for a low speed (winch) tow but I would never use it as a jack point. I really don't think it would make much sense to use them on the original cars. We can talk about how we could use them but why?

My front end is different than yours. Mine is similar to an original with a steel structure mounted to the tub
