unknown gt40

hi my name John.S i have a fiberglass gt40 body mounted to a vw chassis my problem is that i want more than a 1600cc under the hood as far as i know it is from the early 70s it has no air dam in the nose and rubber side clips so i have no idea what make it is i do know that in order for me to have something to be proud of i need to start with a different chassis one that is capable of handling the weight of a ford v-8 if anyone knows of where or who can help me with info or a actual chassis for my application would be great! i have had this car for a few years on the back burner i am geting desperate to have v-8 engine in this project has anyone ever heard of using front wheel drive car as a donor such as olds or caddy anything would be better than 1600cc motor in my dream car sincerely newbie John.S

hi! thanks for replying to my question i went to the sites you recommended and found out that none of those car are mine all the doors there were normal my car has the halftop roof doors like the gt40s still am looking for who or where in the U.S.A i can have made or buy a chassis for my project still hopeful that i have gt40 in my garage sincerly John.S

Hmmm - I guess the best would be to post some detailed pictures of your car.
This forum has so many well informed members that I'm sure they'll find out which type of car you own.

Volker

Can you post pictures - if so I'm sure someone can help. Otherwise, we can only guess.... I deleted Bill's test post so it wouldn't confuse you, doesn't mean anything, he just wanted to test /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Sorry for the confusion Ron. I haven't been able to post because my browser didn't support frames (whatever that is). Now with this new computer, I Can post and ask questions.

Thanks
Bill

Hi John

There's an old brochure and other stuff on the Kellison, (marketed as the GT40 MK III!) for sale at Mclellans, item #B28521.

This shape was marketed earlier by Allied Industries as the Sebring. Mclellans have some items under Sebring also.

These and the Fiberfab (previously Auto Craft) Avenger/Valkyrie are really not my bag (the bodywork of both is a way off pastiche of the original), but they were the closest you could get to the GT40 in the 1960s/1970s when I started looking. If you are looking to spend money on the chassis/engine, now may be the time to look at a new project with bodywork closer to the original - though it won't be an inexpensive project...

Cheers and good luck.

Rob

Eric,Canuk40,RobBeddington thanks for the info even though it led me to the truth i don"t have a gt40.Dreams CRUSHED!! the kellison car really looks like the one i have i will check further into this because i don"t want to waste money into something that just looks like a gt40 sorry to have wasted everybodys time on a knock-off replica still hopeful i will drive my own gt40 and not just stand on the side lines. Now i guess who do i see about getting a replica gt40 hmmmm!!! I wonder where to begin there are so many of them out there it seems like that i will have to plunk down a arm and a leg or two all i want is a mounted body on rolling chassis sincerely John.S
