Valkyrie on eBay

This FiberFab Valkyrie was state of the art in the '60s where home built mid-engine cars are concerned. It has a Chevy 350 with a '68 Corvair 4 speed. The gearboxes after '67 were made by Saginaw as were the conventional manual transmissions back then. While it is obviously not a GT40 replica, it is still a nice looking car. As FiberFabs go, this looks to be a fairly well sorted example. This isn't the same car I posted a while back; the paint scheme is reversed (it was silver with blue stripes.)

Hey Lynn, while that is clearly a long way from being a close replica, it seems to have a character of its own and some measure of style. I notice that your car is a similar (maybe) colour and thought it would be interesting to see a picture of your car from the same angle to take in the differences in form and shape.

Unfortunately this one is the exception.
Most Fiberfab kits I have seen were poorly constructed,
which helps perpetrate the poor image of all component cars. I understand why people discuss these
when looking at the history of kit cars, but I'd
just as soon forget they ever existed.
I really don't see them related in any way to the
current crop of accurate/well engineered/well made
replicas. Sorry.

For what is worth I think any component car can end up looking grim if the assembly and selection of parts is poor and the finishing is bad.
Only a Quality control dept can ensure something conforms to a pre determined standard.
This does seem well finished.

Joe,
Is that an AC ME 3000 in your pic ?

I had two in the day.
A 862 DPE was a ruby coloured car I had built.

8696 ? D was a black Scotland car which Robin Rew sorted for me.

Much better cars than anyone ever admitted...

Hi Barry

Well Spotted, Yes, it is an ME I have 2 of them, the green one in the pic is a wide bodied twin turbo that the infamous Robin Rew used for sprinting etc in the early eighties.
I also have a normal road car Turbo version,
I am a bit of a mid engined enthusiast I love working on this sort of stuff, which has led me through various vehicles over the years.
