right on Dave, but let's be a bit more positive about this, if I may;
Keith will need to install a modest wine cellar, a champagne cooler, and and ice maker when it comes around to the Thames. After all, this will probably be the closest mooring to Cliveden you can get.
An internet connection and web cam will also be essential.:laugh::laugh:

I must say I reached the absolute limits of my physical abilities yesterday brining her back from Poole Harbour (her home for 33 years) and my home port of Lymington, a sea journey of around 25 miles.
Don't get me wrong, the boat is fine but coming around Hurst Narrows the sea kicked up a bit in the tidal overfalls and I had to work hard at the wheel and found out just how weak I am physically (I stupidly never expect it and always think I am "fine") so a future on the 'bounding main' is, unfortunately, not an option.
Hence the Thames, a tranquil gentle environment that I also enjoy.
Problem is - she does 8 knots at tickover and the Thames speed limit is, er, 6 knots :stunned: And they won't like THAT at Henley :shout:

You will find that it's cheaper to party on board moored to the dock. You will spend less on Alcool than Diesel. Of course you could turn it into a working boat could send you over a few lobster or crab pots.

Poole Harbour!!!!! Was born and bred not far from there, we could smell the seaweed from Holes Bay on a hot day at low tide over on Canford Heath.
Had I stayed around there i would have got into boats rather than cars (one of my school buddies is a buyer for Sun Seeker!!).
I always thought leaving the harbour entrance and missing the Sandbanks ferry looked hairy, currents really run through there. The little car park there is still a favorite spot to do nothing but watch the boats and eat ice cream (whilst sitting in the car because you can only ever get in there during the winter when the grockles have left so it will be cold, wet and windy).
I remember canoeing from across from the quay to Brownsea island one evening and touching the pointy bow of a Trunkline ferry whilst it unloaded, good times.
Well if you need a hand with anything (refit, electrical, plumbing, making bits), I am just down the road from Dave so close to the Thames as well. More than willing to take some time off and crew it round with you if you need another hand or at any other time for that matter.
