what were the numbers for the p1075 gt40 that won in 68/69

was it 9 in 68 and 6 in 69?

Im doing a color scheme on my ford powered 18' holman and moody edition donzi classic and want to make sure those are the numbers that won. the hull is already sky blue I just have to do the orange stripe in vinyl and the numbers

also what MK model were they?

if it is 6 and 9 im gonna use 69 to represent both lemans winning cars I know its backward but I dont care It also signifies my fatehrs fighting infantry and I like to 69 as well hehe

heres a pic of the boat graphics i made in ms paint.. 1971 homan and moody donzi classic with a 351w mild mods..

1075 wore the number 9 in 1968 and the number 6 in 1969. And on the rear deck its on the right (drivers) side of the car, so it can be seen from the pit lane and the spotters corner.

Jon thank you so much!!! now two things left.... does anyone have the pictures of those cars the originals that won the two races? I am asking for them unless someone knows for certain the two things im about to ask..

does the white circle have a black outline around it?

does the orange have a black outline around it?

I noticed some white circles have the black circle and some dont...

I have not seen any #9 or #6 replicas without a black line where the orange is but I want this clarified.

also one extra question, the two cars that won leman in 68 and 69 what do the rear of those cars look like in terms of paint? Ive seen some with orange around the back and some all sky blue....

any help with any of this is appreciated as i want to make this graphic style for my boat as authentic as possible.

Thank you ZolliS! by the way thats not the way the boat looks now, that was doen in ms paint... here is what the boat looks like now...

I figured you cant get more original with my boat being that it came with a ford motor and I have the only set of marine headers(custom one off headers gained around 250 rpm- around 30-40 hp) with a 3" inner 4" outer diam and 2" tubes going to a collector... and this paint scheme will make it even more unique...

NO WAY!!!!! beleive it or not im running the original volvo penta 250 outdrive which is good for up to 600hp... I have a volvo penta 275T (with trim and tilt that I will be installing onto it once I do this deck off project and change my gas tank re wire it, repaint the engine possibly change the cam etc.

The pictures I have confirm that there was no black out line around the white roundels, and there is a black out line around the orange. And this is the same for both the 68 and 69 Le Mans.

Jon your one hell of a guy for a newbie like me! I did this real quick in adobe to show a comparison... and after thinking I think a white line around the orange fits the boat better then black outline... sicne i have white interior and it looks as though the black line is accent tot he black interior on the car

thanks molleur i cant wait to put the 275 T on so ihave trim, should gain 5-7MPH with that

jon also, on the rear of the gt40, did it have any orange? Ive seen some with and some without? and when i mean rear i mean bumper area i know the line goes all the way. to the back but does it go down and is there any other orange on it on the rear bumper area etc?

any chance you can ost the pics you have of the lemans winning cars so i have the originals to compare? both #6 and #9?

Finding colour photos for the rear of the cars from the 68/69 Le Mans is actually quite hard. Most of the photos taken at the time are in black and white. From what I have found the orange stripe goes over the lip at the back of the car and terminates above the engine vent panel (where the number plate goes now). There is no other orange on the car.

Most of the photos I am looking at are from my copy of "the ford that beat ferrari". If you want to see 1075 in action during the 69 Le Mans in colour then YouTube have the film "La Ronde Infernale" which was made about the 69 Le Mans.
