I like motown stuff, especially Stevie Wonder, James Brown....

sometimes I listen to doo-whop oldies, when I'm in the garage polishing my car.

Also a fan of 70's funk musik and like to listen to jazz too.

The early Beatles, then the later Beatles, then a mixture of...the Beatles!

Have fun!

Re: What\'s your musical preference?

Wes Montgomery, early McCoy Tyner trio CDs, Steely Dan (anything and everything), Danny Gatton (you guys who like guitar should hear this guy, he was a magician) and Eva Cassidy
(wonderful vocalist who was from around here and passed away too young, of cancer)

Some votes for best highway driving music:

American Garage, by Pat Metheny
Redneck Jazz Explosion by Danny Gatton

Y'all's turn now...

Almost forgot, Dot Com Blues, by Jimmy Smith, and pretty much anything with a Hammond B3 in it, any other Hammond enthusiasts out there?.....

Re: What\'s your musical preference?

Oh, I've enjoyed listening to Gatton off
and on.

Mostly 70's - 90's rock/metal, funk, jazz
(Al Dimeola is a favorite, as is Jaco Pastorius),
and classical music. My wife makes me listen
to country, I tolerate it, but I'm not a big fan.

Most recently listened to:
Santana
Jeff Watson (played for the 80's band Night
Ranger - has a great version of Play That
Funky Music, with dueling solos between him
and Alan Holdsworth - another favorite)
George Lynch (I'm a sucker for his rhythmic
style)
Tull (another great thing from England)
Yes (England yet again!)
Fleetwood Mac (see above comment)
Steely Dan (not a bad voice for a guy who was
elected to sing by the rest of the band since
his voice sucked less than the rest!)
The Vaughn Brothers
Rush (Alex Lifeson is another unsung hero)
Nuno Bettencourt (a great mix of rock and
funk - Extreme's ballads did not do his
playing justice)
ACDC - those wild Aussies
cool.gif

Queen - more Brits, and what a combo -
Mercury's voice and May's guitar!
and of course ... Eddie Van Halen

There's plenty more, and many lesser known
artists - as you can tell from some of the
names on my list, but the above get almost
constant airplay.

Re: What\'s your musical preference?

Just a single disc player but I have a somewhat eclectic collection of stuff to play. Ranges from good road music (Meat Loaf,Sringstein, Kraftwerk, Also Sprach Zarathustra, Ride of the Valkyres, etc. to classic Beatles, Copelands "Fanfare for the Comman Man", Brubeck's "Take Five" and other such stuff. Lots of good Delta blues that are done by players who LIVE the music plus stuff ranging from the "Crash Test Dummies" to the "Barenaked Ladies" (I really LOVE bands that have a sense of humor)and most anything that has a good beat that you can dance to. In the year 2079 when many GT40s have rusted away Dick Clark will still be doing the "New Years Rockin'Eve" and not look a day over 50....

Re: What\'s your musical preference?

Aloha,

I'm new here, but I couldn't resist a music topic.

Currently avaialable in my car:

Red Hot Chili Peppers - By The Way
Incubus - Morning View
Led Zeppelin - Houses of the Holy
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - Greatiest Hits.
Bob Marley - Exodus
Na Palapalai - Makani Olu Olu
Izrael Kamakawiwo'ole - N Diz Life
Vivaldi
Pachelbel

Hopefully, these sounds will soon be gracing the interior of a GT-40, in a decade or two.
