That is the optional "narrow tail" MK I and I also understand that Herman is returning to the Netherlands soon.

Herman is a gentleman of the first order......

Indeed, a very down to earth, friendly man as far as I know, only spoke to him a few times though when I was visiting his garage in Hardenberg with those lovely cars in their "showroom" in the Netherlands some years ago till 2008 that was, later they sadly moved for their new adventure.

would be nice to see them back in the Netherlands, I will surely visit them again.

I did a search on the www today but could not find it, although I remember a GT40 article I have with a SPF GT40 for a German client but that one was ready and in Gulf colours and number 63 on it...but I guess that would be strange for this more yellow looking car...

Herman already looked at my GTD to get it registered in Holland and is setting up shop overhere as well as in the US.

Anyway, I am sure he can tell you more about the car. You can easily contact him through the Wheels and wings website.

Thanks. Any other angles of that car Rick? That looks really nice.

I did reach out to Herman who said he remembered the car and it being sold to a racing team but had no other information. If I knew the serial number or the racing team I could probably find pictures out there.

Mike,

Just that photo...we use it with pictures of the "mid" and "wide" tail to show the differences. I am amused when you look at the original FAV build sheets how many cars were painted some shade of green originally. I would NEVER select the Linden Green from a sample but I must admit the car looks good and "period" in the color.

Like this?

guess thats the same as this car a bit further in time?

and I did a search in my magazines, but the one with number 63 in the roundels that also was for Germany was not such mk1 with those lights, it was a 'normal' Gulf type.

Does Herman know which colour that light yellow GT40 became in racing?
or is that the colour as shown or just a base for?
I try and see if I can find a racer of that type on my pc, have many pictures though most not from the rear to identify the car  but I have a look to see if I can find something.

Herman never responded to my follow up inquiry. I think I know where I am going but would love to see any images of that car if that was in fact not primer coat.

its a rare colour if that is...could be nice with some decals.

sadly I don't have that colour and car in the pictures I have, although I've had some pictures with GT40 and those rear lights, but those were not from this car.

FORD offered a yellow called 'Springtime Yellow' during that time period. I have a Mustang that color, but there are many 'soft yellows' from different years.
