Wiper Gearbox Installation - Catch 22?

It appears that installing the wiper gearbox and bundy tube is a Catch 22 situation. The assembly sequence requires the dash to be installed, then the spider. But if you follow that sequence, it's impossible to get to the gearbox to install the bundy tube.

Am I missing something here?

Yes, I've looked at the online manual. But after you have located where the bundy tube comes through the chassis, you can't install the tube because the dash needs to be installed first.

Really....we have had no problem.

Sequence is.
1, set/drill and then unmount electric motor
2, drill hole through spider/roof section
3, cut hole in chassis/dash underpanel
4, mount gearbox to spider
5, run drive cable through bundy and attach steel bundy tube to motor
6, reattach electric drive motor to chassis.

The spider may need to be unattached to the chassis but installing the wiper is not a major ordeal....

Bill, I am guessing that you may not have made a big enough hole in the aluminum to get to the gear box from below. If not you may need to make a bigger hole to do what Fran is desribing.

Hi Bill,
You have two options...."for the final install": 1) The spider must either be set onto the box already installed to the bundy tube. Then reach fingers under spider and align/install into drilled hole and tighten. 2) Or, mount the box to the spider, and the hole through the dash must be large enough for you to then install and tighten the bundy from underside of the dash.
hope this helps,
Rob
