Info on GT40 # 9

I met a person who claims to have a Gt40 NO. 9 he found in Turkey. It was at a junk yard under several other cars. He shipped it back to th US in the 70's and still has it. Could this be true with all the documentaion of these cars? Any info appreciated. Thanks TC

What is his name? The chassis numer? It would be easy to find out if it is true -
there are plenty of books available with fairly current registries.

To my knowledge neither 109 or 1009 have any history in Turkey - but they do have long term ownership - perhaps there is now another claimant to be 1009 based on a used tyre found in this scrapyard !

His name is Bonjour Stunson, believe it or not, and has a restoration bussiness in Illinois. I have been trying to get a picture of it for about a year, He keeps it in a bunker at his house. I really do believe he does have one as he showed me an old photo with him and the auto from the late 80's. Thanks for the reply. I will stop by today and bug him some more. Ted

I just checked out 109 and 1008 (they started with 1000 in that series, so techincally 1008 could be thought of as GT40P #9) and 1009 in Ronnie Spain's book. At this point, unless #9 is not the right number, I would have serious doubts about this man's claim. I also checked the owner's list in the back and there is no Stunson listed with any first name. Again, I would be highly skeptical.

There is an outside chance that it could be listed under a business name. Do you know the name of the restoration business? (He could be holding it for the proper owner as well; awaiting restoration, but this is a very long shot and, again, assumes that #9 is probably not the actual chassis number or even sequence number.)

I doubt if it is GT40 P1008 as I was sitting in it at Goodwood last August.

Typically the racing number coordinates to the chassis number. But ya never know!

Sounds like BS to me, but you never know...personally, if I had a car like that, I would not be shy about showing it off. What's wrong with the dude?

1008 has always been under Ford ownership in the UK, to be used as a press car, demonstrator, and so on. It has got several liveries, from gray to Gulf racer up to green. Last time I met 1008, it was at the MPH Show in the UK, and she was in Gulf livery.
I have not met 109 neither 1009 so far in person.
