Problem is that it is an "Escort" / "Pinto". The car will mean something to those with experience, but there isn't volume as it isn't an evocative shape that would inspire the masses.

IMHO, the SLC, GT40 (and Cobra for that matter) is a sexy shape that will appeal without having a personal historical attachment. Seems like a cool care, but in the end it is an Escort.

Fran! Make him take that back! :D

Just kidding Ron, I think sometimes what people post up in this thread isn't necessarily practical for Fran to do, just something they personally like :)

I love that Mk1 Escort completely and utterly unexplicably, I really don't know why I do, it's completely way off my usual taste.

I've been looking to build a kit car for years, I'm due to move to Texas this year. Whilst I'm not very patriotic and I firmly believe in adopting local culture and integrating myself properly into Texas, I've been looking to do/bring something with me just to keep a little bit of my 'Limey' identity and what perfect way to combine both by building a kit car of a British icon :)

At first I looked at the ZCars Mini which I love but whilst I'm happy in tiny cars in London, tiny cars in Texas worry me a little, also whilst you wouldn't necessarily consider a kit car practical, that mini is completely impractical.

I'd love to bring the Mk1 Escort over to Texas and build it as my first kit car to 'cut my teeth' so to speak before I move on to bigger and more expensive kit cars as I would imagine most experienced builders will admit their first ever kit car wasn't their finest and would have done a lot of things differently if they were to do it again.

I'm sure I could also find a way to get something American made into it as well ;)

My main concern would of course be how difficult it would be to make road legal in Texas!

I'd pay a good amount of money for a late 90's 911 GT1 replica. But then I need to finish the 962C I have on order first, LOL.

Yeah I saw that, looks a little bit of a Morgan influence and a bit of a Wiesmann influence.

Not sure I like it though, I like Morgans and I like Wiesmanns, not sure I like the in between....

If I build another car, I am leaning towards a McLaren CanAm, probably the first wing car they did or the Chaparral, again the early high wing version.

Morgan influence, well I hope it doesn't come with the sliding pillar suspension. Dear lord almost as bad as swing axles, or beam style on Moostangs.

Greg - That is a handsome touring car right there... A bit Porsche-ish and something else I can't quite put my finger on...

lol Greg, indeed that looks a bit like it :)

the Ascari KZ1-R looks even better...love it.
My car also have a link with Ascari, the older Ecosse, the last 3 of those came with the 5.0 Hartge V8, I have that same engine and Ascari Ecosse Ecu in my Hartge one off Z3

I think the Maserati Birdcage Concept from 2005 would be a no brainer....I would have a buyer for the car as well!

Can I say Hell Ya...

Fran...I would love to see a nicely done Pantera GT5 replica. Play with the layout a tad so that the Italian driving "position" goes away (arms straight out, legs splayed)...I'll drop the new 5.0 BOSS engine in and back it up with a Ricardo

BTW...what ever happened with the suspension upgrade you were teasing about on the GTM forum? Some billet goodness for the Vette community would be a hot commodity...

DeLynn...c'mon buddy, you can do better than the Ascari...think American...like say a Mosler MT900? ;)

PS, Fran...we need to have a chat about an engine I've been toying with...DeLynn digs the idea :lipsrsealed:
