Graham,
No. Apparently the hard disc was full. (x3!)
But I was at Trent Bridge. Before you ask - the wole stand was on it's feet booing
so I joined in, rightly so. The Indian team could hear the whole crowd and and the plan was to stand and everybody turn their back to the field. Dhoni withdrew the appeal.

Yes pal. I was booing too (at the telly :) )... Until Bell came back out to bat and my wife told me not to jump to conclusions and that I should feel ashamed of myself... For what it's worth, I though MS Dhoni did the right thing and for that he is a gentleman, otherwise well, it simply wouldn't be cricket!

It would have been more sporting if he had made the call straight away.
One wonders what effect the crowd reaction and talking to his boss at lunch had. Also it would have been a good idea for the public address to announce the decision to the crowd before the umpires and the teams came back after lunch.
P.S. I was booing too.

Pete - I don't think play would have resumed. Some people around me were leaving until Dhoni withdrew the appeal. I also think all the bottles and plates would have ended up on the playing surface. Quite a sad moment for Cricket.
The final result was great. Edgbaston next. What fun.

Pete - I wish ......
Making my mouth water thinking about Singapore.

DRS activation zone at Spa: Only one area - after Eau Rouge and up the hill to
Les Combes. How silly. Surely from Stavelot to after Blanchimant (the old Bus Stop area) would be suitable as well.

David,

Blanchimant without full downforce? As David Hobbs, our US "racer", TV analist would say, you must have "large attachments"!:stunned:

Anyway, no matter how they do it, SPA is next!!!!!

They might just set a passing record!

Agreed. It's not a corner to an F1 car until the heavy braking zone into the Bus Stop...

Now the FIA want to put a full cockpit cover over the drivers " for safety " ! Why not just take the drivers out of the cars altogether and give them a Scalextric controller, they can sit safely in the pit garage and play racing drivers.

At long last, Briatore has bought a round of drinks. Allegedly, a bunch of Russian wide boys disembarked from a super yacht and went to the Billionaire Club (Briatore owns it).
They ran up a bill for 90 bottles of Crystal (a champagne in the Grand Cru category) and then sailed off into the sunset. Briatore, of deep pockets and short arms fame hit the roof.
I recall in Shanghai he invited all the team to a club on the Bund to celebrate Renault and Alonso winning the world titles. He paid for one drink for each person. The entrance fee was £70 per person. Me? I had the upper flight deck bunk on the flight to London so I thankfully missed the action.
Would you invite such a tosser to your garden party? I think not.

Gordon Murray did an article in Motorsport magazine many years ago which ended up with the same conclusion! Anyway wouldn't an enclosed F1 car be a Le Mans prototype nowadays?

Ha, couldn't happen to a nicer bloke. I'm partial to a drop of Cristal myself maybe I should pay him a visit? Hang on "billionaire's club" that counts me out.
Pretentious bloody name anyway.

Pete,
Since indoctrination in BA, I became partial to Krug but I have found a really good shampers from Sacy near to Reims called Janet Poret, which is just superb. Usually collect enough of it en route from Le Mans to home to last another year. It never does though.

Janet Poret? I think I knew her sister Fifi Poret a little red head with a fiery temper and much passion.

Senna may have the ride at Renault for this next race. Heidfeld may get pushed out permanently.
Apparently it is now official that Heidfeld has got the shove. Good info David.

Wimpy Massa backs banning the use of DRS at Eau Rouge.

The FIA's decision to ban the use of DRS through Eau Rouge at this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix has been backed by Felipe Massa.

With FIA race director Charlie Whiting having decided on Monday that it would have been too dangerous to allow drivers to use DRS through Eau Rouge in practice and qualifying, Massa thinks that F1's race director has made the right call.

"I have been following the discussion regarding the use of DRS at the Eau Rouge corner and I think banning its use there for the whole weekend is the right decision," wrote Massa on Ferrari's website.

"As racing drivers, we would always try and use DRS there and that could lead to an accident, because of the particular nature of the corner. So, just as was the case in the tunnel in Monaco, I think this is the best solution."

Whiting said on Wednesday that one of the key factors behind his decision was the fact that there was a risk of drivers thinking their wing was fully down, when in fact it was still 'open' for DRS.

"We're not going to allow DRS to be used through Eau Rouge during practice," he said. "We want to avoid drivers going through thinking that their wing is in the right position, when it might not be. We think this is the correct safety measure to have taken at such a fast, demanding corner."
