It only sold for 38 million $ or something like that. I don't know whether to be relieved, surprised, or sorry. Lots of folks (inc me) thought this car would sell for 60 million $ or more. Interesting. Any comments here?

Everything for sale is only worth what someone will pay for it, valuation ,asking price and reserves are all meaningless. Money talks and the buyer is obviously shrewd enough to know that he has a sound investment. Oh and a nice car  A friend of mine was offered £60k by a man that had the cash there and then for his GTD just after he had completed it which he refused, two years later he thought he would try the market and it never made the reserve at auction of £35k.

Jim I'm in agreement as I thought this car would break the $50M barrier easily. I know its still a HUGE amount of money and no matter how rich I was I think I'd find it very difficult to part with that kind of money for 1 car. Think of how many other (great) cars you could get for $38M.

You know, guys, I have to wonder how long the "bubble" will last...are these cars REALLY worth that much?

I remember the mania over Volkswagen Beetles back in the 60's, 70's and 80's...they were going for unbelievable prices. Nowadays you don't see much about them. Perhaps the unbelievably high values these cars are commanding these days are an indication that the bubble may be ready to burst?

I mean....come on....think of how much $38,000,000 REALLY is!

Cheers!

Well they made few, and sound wonderful and everyone would love one in the garage. better yet drive on the track. but this is an auction. one changed hands for 45M private sale. You also need to remember the buyer/seller premiums and possible taxes. still "worth it" Truly reason to be Gordon Gecko (Wall Street, the movie)
