AEM Pumps

Check out Facet Duralift pumps. There's a large range of them, some with big-ish flow rates and all (I think!) will dry-prime between 1 and 3 metres above tank height.

I know this will make me sound like a plonker but ......

The Duralift and many other fuel pumps look so out of place in a 60's era engine bay.
The Facet Red Tops don't look brilliant but they aren't too bad.

Not at all....I know exactly what you mean. Could you hide a modern fuel pump inside an old pump body?

I'm sure there are clever ones out there that can ..... but I'm not one of them (only just mastered shoe laces).

If I have to use an ugly pump then I'll bury it within the side pod area some how.
Fortunately a lot of the modern ugly pumps are quite small.

I know what you mean about the look of the Duralift, as you say Red Tops better but i have heard some not great reviews on those. Carters look ok and Neil has run them so I think I may go that route.

So I got 2 Carters, initial thoughts are not great, they were clearly different batches as the brackets were very different black so I sprayed them both to match, fitted the first pump fine, the second had really odd nuts securing it, the first pump were 9mm these were bigger but not metric or imperial?

Bit bigger than 10mm or 3/8 but not of my spanner set fitted. Also the connector nuts, one was really hard to fit, anyhow tried to fit and with a really small turn of the nut the stud sheared!!

Seems the manufacturers sent a really odd bag of fixings, the bracket nuts and bolts were again really odd, gold coloured bolts with steel rusty nuts?

So lets see what the seller says, could do without hassle but hey ho!!

Shaun, I would not be surprised if you received a counterfeit Carter fuel pump. There are loads of counterfeit parts everywhere these days.

Hi Neil
Is that so? How would I best tell, if I sent a photo to Carters would they I guess give me the definitive?
Cheers

Have emailed Carter, if a clone its a pretty good one looking at this image
The wires and even that grey twist wire connector look the same, lest see what Carter say !!

I'm not sure even the manufacturer can tell if it is a counterfeit without having it to inspect. I hope Carter can help you.
