New Dallas Tx Member

Hi everyone,

I'm excited to be a part of this forum and gain the knowledge I need in preparation for one day purchasing/building an SL-C. I'm already getting yelled at by the fiance for how much time I have already spent searching/saving ideas I would do for the build (e.g LS3 vs LS7 or 5.0 Coyote) haha. Anyways, I actually just found out about the existence of component car building and the RCR SL-C this week (absolutely sad I didn't know about this last year). I have been debating on what my next car would be and I'm almost certain it will be building an SL-C. The thought of making my own streetable racecar (pseudo Hypercar) is an automotive engineer's wet dream.

I'm located in Dallas, Tx and hopefully, someone who owns an SL-C will let me check it out and show the fiance who is absolutely not on board atm (the first step is to get her sold to the idea). I currently own a supercharged DCT V8 M3, which I spend more time modding and tinkering with than actually driving it and a 2018 Lotus Evora 400. The SL-C would the perfect blend of my M3 and Lotus Evora making it a must-have want.

I'll be spending a lot of time lurking on the forums and excited for the building of future friendships.

I have a small youtube channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaXqzzImpq-Ej0L8hMN4tnw?view_as=subscriber and would love to follow anyone who shares SL-C or their build journey as well!

Cheers!

Traviss,

I am in the middle of my build, basic street car. I am in San Angelo which is only about 3 1/2 hours from you. For West Texas that is close
You are very welcome to come on by any time, I am doing it in a single garage bay without any sophisticated tools or equipment . If you want to see a track car and an Amazing garage Howard Jones is in San Marcos, a bit closer to you, great guy super helpful. I am more of beginner hacker than anything else but I am determined to finish this thing, learning a ton along the way . This forum is absolutely fantastic , tons of help , they will get you out of any bind you may encounter . I did get a Mechanical Engineering degree eons ago but went into medicine shortly after that , had not seriously touched any tools for about 20 years. Really started hard core since March of this year . Work on it every evening and every weekend I can .

Good luck, hope you jump in, it has been the most rewarding thing I have done in a long time, Can't wait to drive it though. Not soon enough.

One suggestion I may have is look at the couple of partially started cars available, can't beat the price, you will be saving 10s of thousands .

Hector, Appreciate the information! I reached out to Howard as I will be visiting Austin at the end of the month. Would be great if we are able to connect. Also, I will hold you to that invitation, as I wouldn't mind taking a look at yours as well! I've been told to spend a good deal of time researching and getting familiar with the SLC cars before diving in. I'm definitely saving up and positioning my self to be able to take on this venture in about 1 - 2 years given how the future turn of events go. I'm seriously still amazed I did not know the SLC existed until a month ago.

Good luck with the planning, I did not know about the SLC until a friend told me about it and I was hooked from that moment, I was looking at a factory five GTM but was never quite sold on it. Not a big fan of harvesting parts . Invitation is open, come by any time.
