RH drive to left hand drive

How much in parts to convert, As far as I can see

under dash metal
dash pad
dash board
rack and pinion
no matter what MFG it must be the same or close.

Not an option with RCR without major chassis surgery because the spine is off center. I suspect the same for other manufactures.

Randy is correct - Tub spine is offset. Also, entire shift linkage has to be changed. Again, all dependent on the tub you are using.

Depending on which replica chassis it is. A typical ladder chassis is straight forward chop centerand move the offset, fix front and rear bulkhead, steering coloumn brakets for under dash panel, reweld, new dashboard, gear linkage on right sill… shifter rods to connect transaxle of choice…. Good fun.

Out of curiosity, do you know what the cost was? Hard to imagine it wouldn’t make more sense to sell the LHD and build a new RHD.
No, I don't know. He did all of the work himself and it took all of last winter. A lot of "drilling, tin-knocking and spot welding" involved. I do know of a CAV that was converted a long time ago in Canada and the person that did the work used to be on here.

The cost would be a lot unless you are a very skilled fabricator with a jig to keep it all square when you start cutting it apart. Buy a RHD car if that is what you want. Here's just part of what you have to cut and rehab. The firewall is also not symmetrical.

What brand do you own ? This will make a BIG difference !
.
I have a CAV. I don't think it would be hard to switching sides.
If you have a CAV your biggest problem will be dealing with Jordi

I'm not that familiar with all the other manufacturers, but I think the RCR chassis is 2" different R-L, or L-R depending on which side you prefer your steering wheel. My RCR is LHD so the left side is 2" wider than the right. I'm 5'6" tall and 150# and fit very comfortably in the right seat when my wife is driving. I could easily envision pedals and a steering wheel on that side in that amount of space. My point is: depending on your stature, you might get away with less cutting than you think.

You have to allow for the shift linkage on a RHD car being alongside your right hip. The space that requires is over 3". Without moving the spine, you will be sitting atop the shift linkage unless the driver is an 80 pound super model with thin hips!

I guess it all depends on what Dean wants to do with the car and why he would even contemplate switching from LHD to RHD. As for the shifter, the simplest scenario would be to leave it right where it's at. I've got old motorcycles and newer ones too and have learned to seamlessly shift from either the right or left side, including different shift patterns. Personally, I don't think I'd have a problem shifting one of these cars with my left hand. I'm just thinking of a much easier possibility without a major tear up of the car. Flame suit on for the purists out there......Rod

Hello,

I have this dashboard, yes a Right hand drive.
I am living in Lokeren ( Belgium ) where they drive right on the street, so i am searching for the same dashboard but a Left hand drive.
Can anybody help me?
If it's possible i can swap this Right hand drive dash for a Left hand drive dash.
It is never been used, i bought an unfinished Right hand drive rolling chassis and i want it convert it to a Left hand drive car
