Jeffs RCR GT40 MK1 Build

Yeah I realized that after I placed the order. They made it pretty easy being all inclusive for things like that and judging from other people's experiences they usually had most of the things in the car at delivery or very shortly after

Sent a demand letter to Fran today, canceling my order and demanding return of my deposit. He has clearly not complied with the contract which states delivery within 8 months. Copied my attorney who works for free as I maintain his Ferrari 328.
Anyone who is trying to get my build slot, talk to Fran directly as I will no longer deal with him.
Will be placing my drivetrain in the for sale section this week.
Regards
Jeff

Keep us updated on how this goes. I am also waiting for Transaxle, shifter, and axles that I purchased in Dec of 2023.
Weighing my actions now.

I spoke to Bill about the transaxle issue a couple days ago. They're very frustrated about it as well. I won't go into details on what's going on, but I'll say the issue is 100% on the vender. I don't think they're going to be surprised if a couple customers decide to change their mind on that and go with something else.

As for the axles and shifter, RCR is waiting to send those in case you decide to change your mind on drivetrain and they want you to have your transaxle installed so you can measure the axle length and make sure you get the correct length.

As for my headers, still no word on that but apparently I should have gotten them already

I’m working starting my company now. Space frame similar to Arden but lots of changes, I have the prototype built now and engineering is working on the FEA analysis. Just made the mold for the first part last week.

If anyone is looking for a period replica this isn’t it. As I’ve widened the wheelbase for the C5 suspension and will also be making the 2” flares standard. Vacuum infused bodies.

If you want to become a vendor here, please take the appropriate actions and proceed.
If not, please do not discuss your products (proposed or otherwise) here.
Thank you.

Just an update:
So as expected, Fran ignored my correspondence demanding a refund of deposit for breach of contract. So went ahead and had my attorney send him a demand letter via registered mail, which he received on February 2nd. Demand letter stated that he had 14 days to refund deposit or we file in court.
As expected no response, so on Monday I will instruct my attorney to start legal proceedings for the deposit refund, expenses, and damages.
At this point it's no longer about the money I am sure I will never see, nor the legal expense I will be out of pocket.
Someone needs to stand up, and show the community that RCR should not be allowed to treat customers as badly as they do.
It's unfortunate as I believe RCR makes a great product, however contracts are just that, and if you don't perform there really are consequences.
Sorry for the rant
Regards
Jeff

I read this on the RCR facebook page. I haven’t heard a reply to my question yet.

What does the contract say in regard to the delivery date - is it guaranteed or estimated? What does it say if the delivery date is missed?

Delivery date is "estimated", there is no penalty for missed delivery.
There is a basic tenant of law regarding "unjust enrichment" which quite simply means you can't receive payment for goods which are never delivered.

The Superformance contract is the same with an estimated delivery date and no penalty if unachieved. However, after 180 days of non-delivery, the buyer may request a full refund of all monies paid. We all takes our chances in life....... good luck.

No idea, I purchased my motor from Prestige, and transaxle from CMM, have had both for over six months.
I did the same thing; I bought my engine just a month or two after placing my order. Seems like a lot of us have done that. If I were to do this all over, I would still go with RCR. The chassis is just so well made along with all the CNCed parts which includes the steering rack, suspension, fuel caps, latches, dog bone, etc.

For sure I would wait until after delivery to buy the engine and transaxle. The best use of that waiting time is research, making a parts shopping list, sourcing hard to find parts, designing the fuel system, using this forum to learn about how others have built their cars, visiting museums and arranging to see other builders cars. The build process will be faster, cost less and be much less frustrating.

I hope you can work out your differences with RCR and become one with your car throughout the build. Even though my car was a 'Turnkey minus build", it still took me 18 months to get it road worthy and RCR helped along the way to get it there.

Have fun during the build and rely on the guys on this forum too - they have answers for everything.
