351 w / 408

Hi

I´m looking for a EFI 8 stack system for a 351 W.
THe ECU should be a closed loop system.

What is available and what are the advantages and disadvantages of the different systems?

What are your recos ?

Thanks
TOM

Tom,
if your motor needs to get anywhere close to European emission regs then you you can forget anything that mentions "Self Learning " and in particular " EZ-EFI " like the Inglese kit.
We do complete "plug, n, play" kits using Accel DFI electronics with fully sequential / wide band etc for 351 W in both the Accuform ( Dynaformance ) Weber lookalike kits, www.classicinjection.com or TWM, www.twminduction.com
We are European dealers/installers for both and Accel DFI EMIC/ installer, let me know what you need.

TWM makes a nice 8 stack. The fuel rails are on the inside. I am using the 50 mm throttle bodies. Borla bought them out in 09 and has a nice cross ram setup.Borla-TWM Induction - Throttle Bodies - twminduction.com (423) 979-4045
They have an air box for the top of their regular setup, but I think it hides the setup too much.
I am using the FAST ECU setup. This is a very user friendly. You can control any of a number of devices such as fans pumps etc. You can control them just about any way you might need. The different tables allow you to tailor what ever settings you like. You can setup one for the street and one for the track. Store them on a laptop. With the flip of a computer switch you can change the tune for that need. There is active data logging so you can analyze what is going on and make fine adjustments. Mine uses four sensors:
A/F, water temp, air temp MAP, and TPS.
Because I am running distributorless there is an extra electronic box(XIM) that requires a cam sensor(where the distributor used to be) and a crank trigger.

Thanks guys

We favorite a system with the fuel rails inside. Apart from the ECU what is the main difference between the TWM and the Inglese setup.

We won´t go with the EZI setup, but Inglese also offers one with Fast XFI controller.
Would that be suitable, any experiences ? Bill is that the ECU you are using ?

Mike you may offer an complete system based on TWM intake to my email [email protected] this should include everything needed from the fuelcatchtank on.
the 408 will have a rating of 560 -580 HP to support.

What height of the stacks can be used ( 50mm or 100mm)

Thanks
TOM

Tom,
the Inglese kit IS TWM, but I think they downgraded things somewhat, I have asked the question and will get back on that.

The TWM kits come with 50mm air horns as standard but you can have anything from 35mm up to 100 mm, they also do a "Nostalgia " air horn to look more like a Weber stack, I have asked for price differances, if any, and will get back to you.

Mike.

Hi Tom, My engine is having the dynaformance system through Knight Racing Services of Daventry UK.
Southern GT have recently fitted this system on there customer Glenns car and by all accounts it is superb.
Ask Mick at Southern GT for the full spec.

Tom,
the Inglese is more or less the same as the regular TWM kit. The Inglese linkage is differant, the throttle bodies have been modified to take LS7 injectors, so you don't have such a choice on size particularly for smaller HP motors and they use their own fuel rails to suit the LS7 injectors. Inglese only come in 50mm so, again, not ideal for smaller engines.
Very difficult to work out a price for the Inglese stuff as everything seems to be an extra cost, even the air horns.

TWM comes with either 48mm or 50mm throttle bodies, at the same cost. We did enquire if they could install their Big Block 58mm throttle bodies on a 351W manifold and they will do that for us but involves extra machining and is more expensive

The TWM kits come with 50mm air horns as standard, 100mm are an option at a small additional cost. The " nostalgia " stacks are 60mm and there is no extra charge for them.

I will get back to you're e.mail as soon as I can with a complete kit price for a TWM / Accel DFI installation.

I put a Redline Webber set up on my 351w / 427 stroker it took me a while to learn how to figure out how to tune it, as no one in my country knew anything about it. But now that I have it set up it is working very well you can really fine tune your engine with this system, you will need to have a good understanding on how to map a EFI though if you use this system.
but it will allow you to really dial in your engine.

Oh ya almost forgot, now that these EFI eight stacks are be coming more popular the cam companies (Inglese) are making dedicated cam shafts to help these systems work better on the street .

Tom,
Mike pretty much covered the TWMs. I have the 50 mm on my engine, 351W bored stroked and internally balanced. I think it comes out to 392. Will have to look up my shop order. That was soooo long ago.
I am using the FAST XFI and it is a good setup. Great support and they hold classes for those that want to learn the system.Fuel Air Spark Technology - Leader In Electronic Fuel Injection There is no setup that they can't handle. I am using LS-1 coils and 36 lb. injectors. They have a small forum that you can ask any kind of question and there is someone who can give you the answer, or you can call them and they will help you with any problem you encounter.
I decided that I wanted to go with a distributorless ignition so I have the XIM box as well. Sensors are standard. I am using the MAP, water temp, air temp TPS, and O2 exshaust sensors. Since I have the XIM there is a crank trigger and cam sensor as well. They can supply you with all the parts you need if you want them to do a seamless setup.

NEW BOLT-ON KITS INCLUDE EVERYTHING NEEDED TO CONVERT POPULAR FORD ENGINES TO EFI
FAST™, the leader in fuel injection technology, introduces the industry’s only “truly complete” electronic fuel injection (EFI) kits. Other manufacturers sell partial kits that require you to source hard to- find parts; this only increases the expense, guesswork and headache of installing EFI. To solve this problem, FAST™ has included every single component needed to install fully sequential EFI on Small & Big Block Chevy and Small Block Ford engines from mild street rods to 1,000 hp all-out race cars.
To solve this problem, FAST has included every single component needed to install fully sequential EFI on Small Block Ford Engines, from mild street rods to 1000hp all out race cars. Another key component included is the revolutionary FAST™ Dual-Sync Distributor. These innovative new distributors allow fully sequential operation, yielding better performance, improved idle quality and more precise tuning as compared to old technology bank-to-bank systems.
The kits also include a single plane aluminum intake manifold, Big Mouth 4-Barrel Throttle Body™, proper size Precision-Flow™ Fuel Injectors, aluminum fuel rails, fuel pump kit, all necessary sensors and professional quality wiring harnesses with labeled connectors. Most importantly, to ease the anxiety and fears often associated with an EFI installation, FAST™ has included its highly-regarded EFI Installation & Tuning DVD containing two hours of step-by-step installtion and tuning advice. Throw in the fact that this product, like every FAST™ product, is backed by the industry’s finest tech support and it’s easy to see how FAST™ is the one company that has removed the fear and intimidation from EFI.

The DVD makes everything easily done. You can download their C-COM software and it is step by step. They incorporate real time data logging so you can fine tune the engine to whatever you want. You can have a few parameters or as many as you want. The standard setup has about 14 things to look at, from rpm to battery voltage, Ve, Ign.(BTDC) and A/F.
Their first startup routine is simple enough for even me to follow!!

Thanks again for all the valuable input

It looks like the engine builder willl supply us with the Inglese / XFI 2.0 system. He will setup and dyno the engine with the 8 Stack. We still have to finetune the spec, but we are on the way.

So I take it you don't want me to finish this quote you asked me to do.
