Glad you brought this up, I purchased the 17" halibrands and tires from Jim and never mounted them yet. Good info :idea:

I can confirm.
The 15" wheels show next to no threads remaining when they are on.
The 17" wheels from Vintage Wheels show some threads.

Drove the hell out of it both ways. No drama.
The wheels are tight and stay tight.

The 17" gives a lot of choices for tires, which ones do you prefer? Mine have pilot sport, curious if they preform better than Avons.

Yup! I have the Michelin Pilot Sports.
I like them. Much better on the street than the Avons, especially when it's cold or damp... even raining.

On the track though, I'm using the 15" wheels with Goodyear Blue Streak Vintage.... if I remember correctly. They have a semblance of tread, but are pretty sticky.

If I remember correctly the first CAV to be sold at Barret & Jackson went for $118,000 and it was a space frame.
