Audi 2.7TDI transaxle

Wa=hat car did it come in???

The 0A2 was used behind European 2.5tdi, 3.0tdi, and 2.7tdi models starting in 2004. They are not very common.

Thanks Scott, but what do you mean by weaker when the tourqe capacity is higher? I thought it was the torque that killed the boxes?

Sorry 'bout that, I saw now that you mentioned two different boxes

01E > 0A2 > 01X > 016

Have found some 0A2 gearboxes and would like to compare the price on it against some 01E boxes.

But what is the best 01E? Have read that there is a narrow and wide 1st gear, a flexible and a non flexible driveshaft, 2 different gear ratio sets, 5 and 6 speed, pretty many codes like "DQS" "CBM" "DSY"... And have seen that it's behind many different engine alternitivs like a Audi A4 with a 1,9l 85kW or a Audi A8 with a 4,2l 265kW engine.

So what car and year have the box that would be the most preffered?

All 01E's built after 1996 have the wide first gear. There are only 2 different gear ratio sets for the 6 speed FWD 01E, a wide ratio as found on diesels, and a very close (short) ratio found for about 4 months of production in a few front wheel drive cars (These are extremely rare).

The 5 speed boxes are all narrow first gears, and have the same 1-4 as the 6 speeds and 5th gear is very close to the 6th gear on the 6 speeds.

I have used this Gearbox (2,7tdi) this Season for more then 50 Dragracing starts with a Audi V8, boosted with 18psi , without any trouble :)

28x10x15 Drag Slicks and best ET 11,5 with a weight of 2950 Pounds
not in a GT40 but same concept

Guys,
I have found a Audi 2.5 TDI 6-speed "DQS" box which i might buy.
Question; What does the DQS stands for? And do someone out there know the C-C measurement between the inner CV-joints?

Thanks
/// Peter

This gear box was discussed here which had some useful info...

01E DQS Manufactured 04/01-01/02
01E ELQ Manufactured 04/01-01/02
01E FRF Manufactured 01/02-

Gearbox ratios (DQS/ELQ/FRF all the same)
Final 31:8 = 3.875
1st: 28:8 = 3.5
2nd: 34:18 = 1.889
3rd: 32:26 = 1.231
4th: 27:31 = 0.871
5th: 26:39 = 0.667

DQS is the gearbox code. As RUFAZZ says it means its an 01E, it was one of the ones on my short list but I ended up with the slightly later model FRF. I've got a manual for them if you need any other information.
