B.O. Supports Mosque near ground zero.

Chris, my fears stem from common sense and history. I am fearful of our economic future as I personally have lost about 2.5m since this depression has started. I am fearful because I see that once again, we cannot spend our way out of a recession. History has proven this several times in our history. I am fearful when we cannot pray on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial (physically removed) because of this faulse teaching of separation of church and state. I am fearful because of the national day of prayer has been removed and replaced by a Muslum day of....whatever. I am fearful because BO said that this is no longer a Nation of Christians, but a Muslum nation.

I believe that people have the right to practice their religion as they see fit and to worship whenever or wherever they might, but when the religion is based on overtaking the world and all other people or religions are to be destroyed, not so much.

I am very aware of how hard a permit is to get if you are a Christian religion. There are so many road blocks, that these churches spend an inordinate amount of time and money or quit all to gether.

It appears that this Mosque will have no challenges all in the name of tolerance.

I am tired of being told to be tolerant OF those who refuse to be tolerant BY those who refuse to be tolerant.

Gary, with all due respect, I understand the point people are making very will. I just think for a number of reasons what the "people" have been told is happining and what is really happining are very different.

Your point about Skinheads building next to the Holocost Museum is a great example of something that should never happen.

Additionally, building a Mosque on Ground Zero, run by a radical Islamic Fundamentalist is wrong and should never be allower to happen. Unfortunatly this is what the "people" think is happening because some "entertainment"/"newsish" porgrams and YOU are telling them.

You/they are wrong and are fermenting hate and bigotry!!!!!

Gary here is what they are building Park51 It looks to be a fairly tame center.

(1) It is not a Mosque, it is a Cultural/Community Center with a separate "prayer" area.

(2) It is not on Ground Zero but you alerady knew that.

(3) It is not run by a Radical Fundamentalist. George Bush2 felt so strongly about this guys intentions that after veting him sent him out as a reprisentitive to foster good will toward the US.

President Obama was making the point and said in so many words, that if you counted all the Muslems that live in the US, that That number of Muslems wold make it one of the largest Muslom Countries in the word.

He was making the point that the US is a very big country, and there are many different ethnic and religious groups. If you counted only the Mulums it would be on of the largest Muslum Countries in the world.

I have also heard Politicions say there are more Irish in the US than in Ireland, More Italians than in Italy......................

Al, I'd encourage you to re-listen to the YT.....despite the fact that the party who edited Bee-OH's comments had him repeating MANY times "...we'd be one of the largest Muslim countries in the world", the real intent was to ridicule Bee-OH for having stated just that when the truth is that the U.S.A. would be very low (38th) in terms of sheer number count (and only a very low 1.5%).

Again, Jim does seem to have a good grasp on the intent of the party who posted the YT...the point could have been just as well made had the party simply had Bee-OH make that statement ONCE and then showed all the other countries that have larger Muslim populations. To have edited it in the way (s)he did reveals their true "prejudice" in this issue, that their intent was not to inform the listener as much as it was to ridicule Bee-OH.

If this was not evident to you, I'd suggest it was b/c the intent was congruent with your perception of Bee-OH.......that he deserves to be ridiculed. However, it's difficult for me to understand how the audio portion of the tape could have been subjected to the "Max Headroom" treatment so that the same sound byte was repeated over and over and over without the poster's intent to ridicule Bee-OH having been obvious to you. You have proven with your very coherent posts that you are much smarter than that!

Al, Al, Al.....now, did you REALLY hear Bee-OH say he supported the Mosque? Did you REALLY hear him use the words "ground zero"? I listened twice to the clip, never heard him say either of those things. What I did hear him say was that he was sincerely compassionate to the feelings of New Yorkers in regards to where this would be built, on private property, expressed condolences to those affected by 9/11, and stated that we are a country based on the freedom to practice the religion of our choice. I didn't ever hear him support the location of the mosque or even imply that he would support it being built on Ground Zero.

I frequently admit that my ears ring constantly (tinnitus).....I like to blame it on too many years of loud rock 'n' roll, but the sad truth is that I did it to myself as a teenager by driving loud tractors and hunting with big-bore shotguns and high powered rifles......but despite all that, my computer is run through the home theater system in my home and I can get the sound loud enough to hear well.....I never heard him "...supports Mosque near ground zero".

I did, however, notice that whoever posted the YouTube clip titled it that way. Now, why do you suppose they did that? Do you suppose they had an agenda or a particular political persuasion?

Keep your eye on the prize, that is, qualify your sources of information, make sure they are unbiased if you are going to vouch for their veracity.

There are about 4.5 million muslims in the US, and that's on the high side, not anywhere near the largest muslim population in the world. And there is a large Irish and Italian population in the US. I'd rather have the Irish and Italian.
