Best GT ?

Lolola, check out the new BDR GT it is a joint venture with Backdraft & CAV which is now run by Auto Futura. They took over after car # 100.The CAV was a great car but Auto Futura took it to the next level with many improvments .The BDR GT comes standard with wide hips ,17" wheels , stripes,A/C and the Audi trans. Both Superformance & Auto Futura are factory built cars and the fit & finish are perfect .The BDR GT is finished in full leather, dash ,doors ,headliner and seats which are fully adjustable. It is also water tight & the interior is done with sound proofing and you don't need to take the wheel off to get in. I did my car in gun metal gray with ghost stripes.

Very nice, do you know who is the dealer in So Cal?

LoLola, Mr. Roy Sayles in San Diego is the CAV dealer - he probably is also the rep for the Backdraft version for CA (I would guess). Roy is on this forum. He formerly ran his dealership from VIP Classics in downtown SD but he has relocated, however, if you contact VIP Classics they can put you in touch with him via email/tel. Really nice guy.

Lolola, VIP is a dealer for CAV only . The BDR GT is a car produced by CAV / Auto Futura for Backdraft . The cars are basically the same although the BDR GT comes standard with more options built for Backdraft which are upgrades for the CAV (wide hip , stripes , 17" wheels w/12" wide rim & a few other things ).I don't think there is a dealer in your area but I know Jay from Vintage sells & ships cars all over . Also he has 2 BDR GT cars in stock right now . One is a gulf color & the other is a speedway blue with white stripes . Instant gratification as I waited 6 months plus for my car. Check out the web site www.vintage-motorsports.com .

The best GT is the one you can afford, almost all will drive well, but all are different in fit finish and feel. You don't to spend $100,000 plus to get a good car, and you don't need 500 hp to go fast.
There are some tremendous deals out there right now, on finished cars with little or no miles.

I´m confused

So whats the deal with CAV,

That Auto Futura took over is not new.
"Joint Venture " with BDR ??

The car advertised here
1966 Backdraft BDR-GT
as one of the first BDR Gt´s was seen before, just at this time it was CAV #131.
Maý be the pics just serve as example, but than it should be noted.

RMHINC: Is this a picture of your car or CAV #131 or are they the same car ?

some proactive marketing ???

I´m open to learn more

Anyone knows more ?

Hmm, different car. CAV #131 is a CAV/AF, I suspect that RMHINC's BDR is actually
CAV #153 based upon the numbering and other photos on this board.

The photo above is Johan's CAV. RMHINC's BDR says "BDR GT" on the sill, as opposed
to Johan's which says "GT40".

BDR (Backdraft Racing) has a deal with AF/CAV in which Auto Futura supplies BDR
with a limited number of cars with some specific options standard.

I agree, the use of Johan's car here and on the Vintage Motorsports website is
a little misleading.

Here is a link to RMHINC's BDR, as well as others. Also, he reposted pics of Johan's
car in the thread showing what his will look like. Note the one picture of the
chassis with "153" written on it - again, I suspect, officially AF/CAV #153.

My car is BDR GT # 153 . When I was trying to deceide the colors I came across build # 131 .I loved the colors & thought it was very different for a GT .Spoke to Johan on the form & Auto Futura got the color codes & built the car for Backdraft. That is correct that CAV AF is building special optioned GT's for Backdraft. The photo gallery and build log are all of BDR GT #153. I think there may be some pics of Johan's car on the site from when we first ordered the car (sorry to confuse anyone) & I'll let Jay know so he can correct it. Johan thanks for the awesome color combination. I just drove the car today & it is awesome! The car will be at the Lime Rock Rolex Vintage Festival for the weekend.

Lolola, I'm kind of lost on the BDR GT/CAV line of thought here unfortunately - regardless, if you're located in southern cal then it would be convenient and productive to contact Roy via VIP and go for a spin in a nice GT40 just to get a sense for it as a driving experience - quite unique.
