Does anyone really think Saddam would use uranium in a nuclear weapon against anyone? Especially the U.S.? If I remember correctly, the uranium we found was only good for a few "dirty bombs" at best anyway. Don't forget how many we have ourselves - and don't think we won't ruthlessly use them either. Remember how we used napalm in Vietnam, and now white phosphor and related ordinances in Iraq? So many people like to write that he "gassed his own people". The people he gassed were Islamic extremists - people who were against his secular government. Sounds pretty familiar. If you step back, we did no different going after Saddam as Saddam did going after the Kurds - both of us killed innocent civilians in the process. The difference is, the Kurds were backed by an equally ruthless country right on his border, not half way around the world. Saddam had nothing to do with 9/11, in fact, it is known that he was keeping a close eye on Bin Laden and his like for the same reason we were. Notice I said were. That's the key here, because while we spend all this time and money in Iraq with our sons and daughters getting maimed and killed, we ARE NOT going after the ones responsible for 9/11. (BTW, the 2000 killed and 15000 injured do not include deaths and other casualties that didn't happen to occur in the middle of a battle. There are people who have died and lost legs while transporting equipment - even in guarded convoys but not counted in the public numbers because they were not in direct combact. - a little tidbit for the non-Americans who may not know)
Don't get me wrong - Saddam is a tyrant, and his sons should have been strung by their balls and slashed with razors by every person in Iraq instead of the quick and peaceful death they were granted. However, I don't like the fact that so many Americans seem to think their country is so perfect that it can do no wrong and the news tells them absolutely everything there is to know. Do you really believe the bullshit about the Senators who voted for the war having the same intelligence and information the President had? VERY VERY naive to me if that's the case. NOTHING leaves the White House without being "proofread" and "massaged". Even what the Senators see. The raw data is too confidential. With what is in the news now about what the raw data was really saying and Bush's history of changing science reports on the environment, (and Cheney and Rumsfeld's history of disregarding the CIA and forming their own group to "come up with their own data"), I don't believe for a second that any senator had the same information to base his vote on that the President and his cohorts had. No friggin' way. The info was made to look good for going to war.
Well, enough said. I didn't want to get in on this, but since I don't have my project started just yet, I had something to chime in about.
Good day.
