Book

There have been rumours that Ronnie Spain's much awaited follow up book to his GT40 An Individual History & Race Record will not be published because the publishers deadline has come and gone. Can anyone confirm this?

When I saw Ronnie in April, he was busily working on the book.

I have had an order with Amazon for the paperback version of his old book (at least, that's what I *thought* I was buying) since Christmas. Every few weeks, Amazon tells me that it's been delayed. Latest word was that the ETA was August, but this is the fifth or sixth delay so far.

Whatever--I'll be glad to get it, whenever it's done!

Speaking of books, is there any work on the book on the GT40 program that Carroll Smith was working on at the time of his death? I thought the project was going to be completed by somebody else.

Thank you for your replies. There has been a lot of speculation recently and if anyone knows what the latest update is, please let me know.

Mike - thats Amazon's way of telling you they cannot get it - sometimes its because the the internal ordering number is wrong - you need to try somewhere else - or buy the hard back for forty bucks which is showing ex-stock even though I suspect its the soft cover

Just received this today:

So, it was simply a case of Amazon telling the truth--the book was delayed, now it's published and on the way to me. :)

Amazon came through--with a reprint of Spain's original book, second printing (circa 2003). Excellent information, mediocre photographic reproduction. Good to have, the price was right, but I am truly hoping he finishes a 'new' book soon!

Ronnie Spain is still working on the book. At the moment he's doing his version of the "One Lap of America" to gather information (he's planning on going to Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Alberta, Washington, California, Utah, Colorado, Florida, ...).

For the first book, he limited the information in the book. This time, he'll try to put in as much information as the publisher will accept.

BTW, he's now personally seen 103 of the original GT40s.

Isn't the traditional joke that by the time he's finished he'll have seen at least 150 of the 100(ish) genuine original cars !

Definitely looking forward to the book's publication
