From a pure spectator standpoint, there is nothing to beat a fast low flying jet. I am quite sure that the same is true for the pilots themselves. Partly because of their traditional Cold War background, British bombers tend to specialise in low flying techniques which leave them vulnerable not only to ground proximity but aslo shoulder fired missiles and even small arms fire.
Their training is something to behold, Here are my two favourite shots shots of a Panavia Tornado and a Hawk trainer in the Welsh valleys. Bear in mind these photos were taken by a walker from a regular footpath, but not, I think, with a 'regular' camera!
