Budget

I can assure you, that no matter how you budget, it will take longer. And the money,,, just put the bills in a safe place and don't add them up until you drive if for the first time. I planned to finish mine in 6 months(bought it second hand and incomplete, see DRB#5 in builders thread). Had the money in the bank to finish. Then life's little surprises jumped up and bit me in the a**. Kids, college, kids bad behavior, a big house to mention just a few, did away with that real quick. Have been at it for right at 4 years now. Probably would have been finished by now, but I decided I wanted a show AND go car, so I ripped all the painted steel panels off and replaced with stainless. Just a month or so ago, my wife gave me the ultimatum to FINISH the car. I said, "pleasssse, don't throw me in that briar patch"(Uncle Remus 'Brer Rabbit' for you young folks). She got tired of hearing me bam on the stainless. So now I am shooting for the end of the year to have it finished and on the road. The engine should be fired up by the end of next week at the earliest. The front suspension is being setup by MTI racing(Corvette shop near me that is competing in the land speed record in North Carolina this weekend). Several big boxes should be arriving this month, and upholstry is close behind.
I have found that if you set small goals and a date, you can feel the accomplishments and it serves as motivation for the next. It wears on you eventually, so be sure to make time for your wife and kids(if you have them). You know,,,, the important stuff, cause if SHE isn't behind you, you ain't goin nowhere with it.
