Cable shift or shaft shift on a ZF?

I'm taking delivery of a CAV componant car at the end of Dec. I would like to get some feedback, pros and cons for both cable and the u-jointed shaft shift set ups. The shifter that comes with the car is a push pull cable style designed to work with the Audi box. I will be running a ZF with pass side shift behind a 427 windsor. Any input on where I could find a shaft style shifter and linkage for my CAV would be very helpful.

Similar, I went from shaft style shift linkage on my Renault to a side shift cable(s) set up on my G50. Very happy I did, it seems more precise shifting through the H-pattern.
 
I have had both on the same ZF, the cable shift in the SPF(with some improvements) is a lot better than the rod set up that was in my CAV, but there are several people on the Forum who make an improved rod set up for the CAV that works well, Ian at CAV Canada for one.
