Actually don't know what they used for my blue mono but, I have mixed a blue and black RustOleum (sp?) that matches.

You didn't have anything else to do anyway. And besides, we who have black cars know that 'black' is not a color, but a part time job! Now why do I have 3 black cars?
PS. BLACK SuperSnake is suppose to be back across the Canadian border today or tomorrow.....4 months.

Once solution I found for frame chips was to go to West Marine or some other such outlet and buy some black one-part topside polyurethane paint (I used Brightside Interlux) to touch up the chips.
Rough the surface with fine steel wool, use a foam brush and it looks almost as good as a spray on with durability far better than the original paint.

SPFs (or at least mine) have a peculiar problem, namely the paint was applied directly to the galvanized steel without a primer. I think if you repaired the chips that well eventually you'd have a gray frame except where you put the Brightside Interlux. (BTW I love that stuff; it levels beautifully. I used it to paint the roof of my Land Rover).

An obscure source for a moisture cured urethane 2K paint is from an outfit here: www.nomorerust.com

Thier AG111, available in satin or gloss black has been a very good product for me painting bare steel and aluminum. Very little prep needed and wears quite well.

All of the SPFs we have had in the shop are made of zintec, and are not galvanised. Secondly we have found that the chassis paint is directly applied to the steel with no primer, all have shown very weak adhesion and paint readily chips off. Not good for longevity Iam afraid.

Richard,
How well does it stand up to say brake fluid? I have found out the hard way that Line-X doesn't. I am looking for a repair possibility for the bottom side of my front clip frame work. A small leak dissolved it. It isn't noticeable because it is covered by paneling. Would never have noticed it until I removed the paneling for some needed work.

Thread resurrection but has anyone found a spray paint that matches the SPF chassis paint? I need to do some "touch up" work.

Rich.

I find rustoleum satin black to be a reasonable match. You can get touch up pens of satin black (I think I got mine at a hobby shop) that work well for chips.

I ended up scrubbing all the leaky brake fluid off the chassis and then sanding and scrubbing again before repainting with this. Olthoff turned me on to this and it seems to be a very close match.
