Custom Billet Bellhousing Manufacturers UK

Hi Folks,

I am ready to purchase a transaxle to mate up to my Ferrari V12 engine in the P4 rep. I wonder if anyone can recomend a manufacturer in the UK able to make a custom Billet bellhousing to suit.

I can't find anything by searching google :( and don't want to buy a box before I find someone able to join it to the engine.

Thanks in advance

Mark

Sorry David, outlook is unable to deliver to that email address. Could you check it for please? Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,
once you have established what transaxle you will be using, I'd be looking for an engineering company to design the bellhousing, taking into account your clutch & actuation requirements, or design it yourself if you feel confident. Once you have a drawing any competant machine shop will be able to produce the part.

The company who supplied my throttle bodies (Active Technologies) would be able to do the design work and supply the part if required.

Regards
Andy

Thanks for the replies and advice guys.

Andy. You have me confused for someone who knows what he's doing!!! Design it myself!??? Indeed! LOL :) I will contact Active tech as you suggest. Thanks for that. BTW how's the ole Air con working? Well I hope!

Mike. I will also have a word with ARE. Thanks for the link.

What a great site and community this is! (Thanks Ron)

More info into my predicament, just incase you're interested, I'd welcome input.........

I fancy the ZFQ. Ratios are great, Chris Melia is helpful and the product has received rave reviews and some impressive track results to boot.

The ZFQ drive flange to front of box dimension is small at 5.6". I have under ten inches of space available if I hope to avoid silly drive shaft angles. Chris can supply a bell housing that is 4" deep and then I need an adapter. This would run me to just about the max of 10 inches. Therefore, I hope to get a custom bell to come in at under or at least no greater than 4" deep, to win back a more optimum angle on the shafts.

Is it realistic to expect to fit a clutch and release mechanism into a space only 4" deep, (to give me a total measurement of 9 1/2")? The flyheel is partially recessed into the block, leaving just 1cm within the bell area.

I'd appreciate your thoughts as I know nuffin!

Hi Kelly. Thanks for the thought.

I did recently explore the suitability of the 355 box. Ideal with the clutch on the back end. However the ratio's are all wrong and it isn't strong enough by far. The 355 has 268lb of TQ and max power of 375bhp @ 8250 rpm.

My 456 lump has 406 torques and 436bhp @ at a much lower 6250 rpm as standard. With the shiny new ecu and throttle bodies, I am hoping to elevate these numbers slightly.

With plans to race the P4, I want something beefy to take the power reliably.

Thanks for the help and recomendations guys. John Wisher (as mentioned above) seems very able and willing to take on this challenge for me.

GT40s.com to the rescue again!

It looks like John will be modifying the Ferrari bellhousing to mate directly to the ZFQ, which will , a) look nice and b) save some much-needed space. Not to mention being fairly cost effective into the bargain!

The term "Cost-effective" and this project don't usually go together!
