Hi Willie

Yes I know about them - see
http://www.gt40s.com/forum/gt40-build-logs/17398-dax-build-up.html

And it's on the road -still rough and unpainted, hot as hell when driving but puts a smile on my face each time.

On the Dax
They started making them 1988 and ended in about 1991 when they sold the project to a bloke who was going to take the build to India to get the best of cheap labour. He then had to wait while Indian Customs cleared everything and went for a weekend away - in a light aircraft that flew into the side of a hill - project never seen again.

I have had a lot of talks wit DAX(DJ Sportscars) and they are happy to help
but as they sold everything 15 plus yars ago things are sketchy.

Other parts from other manufacturers fit - and Andy at Tornado supplied som bits and was great to deal with, likewise I got a GTD windscreen from Frank Catt and it fitted perfectly

The DAX is not a lightweight - about1150kg at SVA with full tanks (2 x 35 litres) and a Rover engine.

It handles well and has more go than you can possibly use on the road - I've only had it on the Gurston Hillclimb track once and it is scary fast - either tha or I'm getting old!

There is another forum member, Dave Bilik in Scotland who has another with a Ford motor and another in Scotland that keeps appearing for sale but never seems to meet the asking price. The only others I know of are a Yellow one similar to the JCB original, one in Germany and one in France where the guy made it bact into a GT40 as Dax added an extra inch in the doors. So from their sipposed sales of 35 cars a few more are bound to turn up!

Ask and you'll be surprised what can turn up.

If you want to see it - lewise ask and if you are near come ofer for a spin!

cheers
Ian
