Electric water pump

I don't know what flow rates are necessary, but too much flow can hinder cooling as the water does not have time to actually exchange heat. Most race shops sell water restrictor plates to put in place of T-stats to slow the water flow down.
Having said that, The 55gpm Meziere I am running has performed far better than the stock belt driven water pump across the board. It can idle on the grid for 30 min in 90 degree weather and still be using the t-stat. During track time I am typically running 200 to 205.

Regarding the elec. pump it is not that much smaller, i.e. outward of of the motor than a standard pump, as I see it ,am I wrong? I would love to run this style pump as I have been researching this for a while now ,but did not think that this pump would be more forward than a stock pump. The best to all, Kevin

Kevin,
The electric pumps are about the same as the standard pumps. If you were to use a sepentine setup, it would save an inch or two.

You will find out that is a lot of space when talking about a forty. The difference comes when you start talking about moving the engine location. I am planning to move mine as far forward as I can, and that really moves it into the cabin. You may not be able to notice that I am not using a distributor.

I(for now) am planning to move the pump off the engine and mount it on the side of the engine bay. There are the off engine pumps that mount on the radiator, but I don't know of their efficiency or ability to last on street cars. Have seen them on drag cars a lot, but you are talking minutes of use. The next pic is a belt driven pump and is about as close to the cabin as it can be.

Most 40s won't allow the engine to be moved forward without going distributorless. Some not even then.

The remote pump is what I am using. You buy a flat blank from meziere or make one if you have Kalun's talent. I mounted my pump to a bottom frame rail (lowest point, no air) and fitted 2 AN-12 lines to the motor plate. LOTS of room in front of the motor now. Sorry no pics. If you need I can pull the seats and fire wall and take a few.
