electropolishing stainless exhaust

I have a stainless exhaust system for my car which came from another Mark V. (the owner decided to convert to GW heads and this system didn't fit those, but it will fit my AFR heads) It is in good shape but dulled etc from heat and use. Does anyone know about having this kind of hardware electropolished? There is a local company that does it but I haven't been able to talk to them yet. If anyone has any experience with this, I'd be grateful for any advice I can get. TIA

i did electropolishing on my race bikes exhaust system and all other stainless parts.

Depending on the effect you want to achieve you have to prepare the surface.
If you want chrome like surface you have to polish it to this level before.
I always choosed to give it a nice even shine with 600 - 800 grid sandpaper.

After the ep you have a nice even colored shine ( of course it will get golden after time with the heat on the headers). It is nice to take care of ( WD40).

I realy like it.

For example my door retainers are tumble cleaned and polished before getting elector polished.

I have found a few places within reasonable distance that do this. One of them will get the exhaust pipes. I tried cleaning them up last evening with a buffer etc and it would take me forever to do it- well, weeks, anyway. Clearly they were shiny when they were new...hopefully they can be restored to their former state of perfection without my spending weeks at the buffing wheel :( Thanks to all for the information, which is very useful. The tech article above is excellent.
