I have a opertunity to purchase this trailer for a cheap price and i am wondering if the GT40 will fit into it with no problems. It is 7x16.. The GT40 is 13Ft. leaving me with on 1.5 feet front and back...
will this work? I never owned a enclosed trailer and wondering if anybody uses this size or do they go to 18x7

regards

Oliver,

Need to measure the inside width at wheel wells. Keep in mind you can not drive the car in because the doors don't open wide enough to get out. I've seen some trailers with a side access door right at the car door area for ingress and egress. Also concern yourself with the tie down locations, you may have to relocate for the GT40.

What I do is let my 16 yr old son drive the car in, with a packed lunch and "empty" bottle, and he stays there until we arrive at the track, then he gets to drive it out /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

If it has brakes the price is OK. I installed a winch and batterey in the floor in the front of the trailer to pull the car in. I think 7' wide is too narrow. Yeah it will fit but with an 8' you can actually move around a bit after the car is in. Thule makes a killer V-nose all aluminum trailer that is 8x20 and weighs 2000# empty. you will have room for some tools, lawn chairs and a pit bike and still only be about 5000# with the car in it. Rondo trailer in Sycamore has them in stock.

Andy I gave Rhonda a call. she sent me pictures and prices...I going to buy with them..they have Very nice stuff...

Thanks Oliver

The GT40 is almost 72" wide. You need a bit of wiggle room for safety even if it is winched inside. The standard (max) 102" trailers work well. Length would probably be ok with the question being proper tongue weight with car loaded.

A rig like that and your number is blue masking tape???? Splurge a little Tim, then we'll know you're REALLY showing off. Some white roundels and a big black number will look much better.

Reality is I am seriously jealous. Nice rig!

My Dastle Race Box is 73.5 inches wide between the wheels. My car fits very sngugly but it fits. 60 inches will not be big enough.

Also check the angle of the ramp. You want to make sure that the nose won't hit it as you approach and that you won't bottom out when your front wheels transition from the ramp to the floor of the trailer.

(If you look at the pictures of Tim's trailer, you'll see he has an extension for his ramp, which might help with that problem)
