Fabrizio Giovanardi from BTCC to Jas Motorsport in WTCC

Talking to our chief mechanic I knew today we will have a new driver for the next WTCC race in Puebla (Brazil).

The first car will be driven by Fabrizio "PIEDONE" (means heavy Foot) Giovanardi, actually racing in BTCC serie.

Seems he wants to try the WTCC experience, and we all hope he will do something great with our Accord.

Being an ex alfa corse great driver we have great expectations on him

Paolo,
Another Emiglia-Romagna great driver.
Why do so many drivers come from E-R?
Is it the Sangiovese di Romagna or is it something in the drinking water?
Sorte boa em Brasil.

Vive Italia.

David,Paolo, after having just returned from a driving stint around Italy, I reckon all Italians are frustrated F1 drivers. They are all barking mad and drive with elegant dis-regard for the speed limits, but IMHO are among the best drivers in the world. The chaos seems to work.
Maybe they have killed off all the poor inattentive discourteous bastards, a form of survival of the fittest.

Absolutely no contest there.
I had and upgrade from Hertz a couple of years back and drove to Imola from Linate(Milan) at what I thought was a really good speed - mostly around 200Km/h. I WAS LEFT STANDING. If I stayed in the fast lane I was being tailgated and flashed to move into the center lane.
Additionally I get slightly confused as to Caribinieri and Police and what they actually do. One of their disconcerting habits (Police) is that they have a sideways pointing spotlight on either side of the array on their roof rack. On my journey to Imola this year (Much slower now - [aging?]) one police car came along side me in the fast lane and then switched on the light to the right side and had a really good look at me driving this rental car. The light was on for 10 to 15 seconds. Very disconcerting and ruins what little night vision I'd acquired.
But - I have never been the fastest car on the Autostrada so they have never pulled me over.
Paolo - what is the difference between them?
Pete, I know you told me about a hire car you 'wrecked' in Italy this year but I can't remember the specifics though I remember we all fell about roaring with laughter. How about recounting it here?

ahahahaha...I love u guys.

Driven around europe I can say u all this is one of the very worst places where to drive.
I think is something personal people have with cars and speed, seems everybody is in hurry...always.
When I drove in UK (also trucks) I was surprised by the civilty of the people, and that helps u a lot (also when u drive hired cars...with local plates that can make u seem from Uk too).
The first time I was very scared, but going slow and respecting always speed limit I hadn't any real problems(just rounds are still a little panic in Uk...I have always to follow someone:).
In italy is completely different. If u are too slow the people around u drives even more aggressive, and I personally hate this too much.

Dave,
About emilia romagna:
That is absolutely one of the greatest parts of Italy.
Almost EVERYTHING involved in motorsports from italy comes from that land.
Probably the secret is ...they love womans (too much) food (too much) wines (too much) and motors(even too much).
When u arrive in emilia romagna..u feel in the air...something different, the people is too cool and they live for those arguments.
Even Maranello is a magic place, I love to go there (when I can) and simply sit down in front of ferrari gate factory...cause u will surely see some prototypes coming out (and tested on public roads....as usual).
A friend of mine saw on public roads also some Fxx,tested in traffic with "TARGA PROVA" that is a special car plate used by factory and garages.

I am from emilia romagna.

...and also for this I will go on in my "gt40 Italy-educational program".

If any manifacturer as CAV, RCR, MDA tornado......... will have a dealer here, they surely will make GREAT business (knowing italian market).
Emilia romagna is also one of the palce where u can see a lot of Cobra replicas, usually Pilgrims.

U have to come guys:))

Believe me Paolo, I come to ER as often as possible and nearly bought a house
on the hills to the east of Imola. It went to P-Luigi Martini's brother in the end. P-Luigi lives next door, and one of the Superbike riders lives a few doors away.(C-rossi) You are right, drivers everywhere. It's the wine that wins though - I just cannot believe the variety and quality and spent today moving my stock prior to moving house next month. (Try the Millenium Classic 1998 to 2000 from Guiseppe Camerone - everybit as good as good as a Barolo for the same years. And the Women - Oh. Don't get me started.....

Non posso credere quanto bello le femmine possono essere in Italia del nord. Sono stato sopportato nel paese errato.

Paolo, I was on my way to Maranello from Modena when the famous crash occurred. (Thanks for bringing it up David). So I did not make it to the Ferrari Museum. But now I have reason to come back to your beautiful country. hopefully next year. I agree with you both about the women, sensational.

eheh, yep Dave,
but Ryan Sharp, with the second car made the first place in indipendent drivers.
He is Scottish...great blood in that young guy!

Think he can do a lot of good things, also cause he is young and comes from Uk formula races.

Go on Ryan!
