Looks like a great project Troy, great workmanship, interesting combination of car and drivetrain. She'll definitely go......and sound fantastic too.

The 360 motor is a great motor. There's some electronics for it....things like the variable valve timing and such. Are you custom working these control items with an adapted harness?

Hi Cliff.

The engine will be running on an aftermarket (EMS) ecu, using the existing harness wherever possible. The camshaft variation is only on the exhaust cams, and is easily controlable from the ecu.

It will also control the variable intake runner length system, which has various stages of butterflies opening and closing. I will be running the drive-by-wire throttle set up too.

There has been a bit of interest in the Ferrari community too, as there are more than a few people that are keen to upgrade from the stock Ferrari ecu.

Just curious as why put that engine in a historically FORD engined car? I guess I'm one of those purist that doesn't build a car and use a LS engine in a Cobra. So I'll bite. I thought there are some Ferrari kits out on the market. Maybe it is due to air quality standards? Curious...

I didn't over-think it Grady. I had the engine and thought it'd be funny!

In all seriousness though, I love the GT40. As this engine was designed specifically for a mid-engined chassis, it fits prefectly. If you think about it, the Ford and LS motors were designed for front engined chassis, and are adapted to suit these and other cars (SLC, for example).

That, and I'm yet to see an acurate replica (shape-wise), of any Ferrari model...

For the ultimate auto blasphemy google Cobrari. It was built in the 80' using a ERA 427 with a V-12 Ferrari engine.
