After looking at real GT40 in depth, how do they keep water out of the demister center duct and the two side ducts. I looks like it blew straight into the car??
The side ducts you could close by rotating the ball in the dash 90°. This would stop the air flowing through. There was a ductted pipe that ran from the triangular ports next to the spare wheel recess back to where the vents mounted on the scuttle.

Even in the torrential rain we had on the road trip, water coming in via the NACA ducts was not an issue. As Ryan said above, closing the eyeball vents effectively stops air flow from the two wing vents and for the central vent the cavity below the demister grille appears to not allow water past by acting as a sort of baffle. Water does, however, get in via a myriad other openings.
I was wondering how you went with the trip Brian. I cant see how you could seal them up all that well without going around and adding seam sealer to every joint. even then i am not sure how you would duct the standing water off the scuttle.
