G50

Hi guys I have been told that the 996 has a version of the g50 in ,is this true and are they the same ??has anyone used this box

I think what you are referring to is the GT2 or 3 gearbox from the turbo model. They have the older round bellhousing with 4 bolts rather than the water cooled engine pattern that the other 996 has.

G96 / 90 6spd similar mount up to the G50 / 01 but its quite a bit longer - 6"

other choices-- 930 long bell 4 sp -- G50/01/02 & G50/50 -- G50/03 &G50/50-
--G50/52 5sps
The 930 although a 4 speed is a good tough box, underrated by many , will take a hiding and suits the V8s torque --cheapish option ATM

Hi Mark,

I think you maybe thinking of the G96/50 this box has the same bolt pattern as the G50 box's and is also six speed but are only four wheel drive so you would need to modify to convert to two wheel drive which isn't to hard to do.

I have a G96/96 in my GT it is longer but just fits with a 427 Fontana block in front of it. its the same bolt pattern as all G50's If your interested I can give you some measurements.
