GT40 on TV (Australia)

Leyburn sprints - 7.30 report 26/08/08.

So who was it?
Reg' GTD40 orangy-red (on my TV) with blue stripes.

'Scuse my ignorance, I'm sure that reg' rings a bell from this forum.

Short appearance but nice car and it sounds great!

Tim.

That'd be Peter Ransom and the reg would be DRB40 ,the Cobra was mine:heart: The 40 commanded a standing ovation every time it did a pass -- great sound!

I spotted the GT40 as Peter's straight away but was that your missus in the red Cobra Chris? I still reckon that thing of Ray Vandersees is an ugly car. Seeing the TV footage and the lovely weather made me feel like I wanted to be there.

Wow, you have cool Wife! (I assume the relationship).
Yeah sorry about the reg' mistake, I can't believe I typed that, I had DRB40 written down... Old age maybe...

Nice Cobra. What engine?

I agree about the Skelta, not the best looking thing around.

Pete, check it out on ABC Television (that's a link, in case it doesn't highlight well enough). It starts about 22 minutes into the show.
To assist your search the main show was about ABC childcare.
Under News and Current Affairs for those not familiar with the 7.30 report.
They don't seem to be archiving the episodes atm so it'll probably only be online for a couple of weeks.

Tim.

Gosh you Aussies are a secretive lot, wont let anyone from overseas watch your telly programs, tells me I have to be a resident in OZ to watch Mrs Flatchat show her hubby how to drive! Dont think they would let me back in after my last visit, so I guess I will have to just let my imagination run riot! :)

Shucks! well, thanks fans :thumbsup:The 7.30 Report - ABC

There are a number of these events around SE Queensland during the year, Leyburn being the original some 13 years ago--- I did compete in that Cobra for a few years back then and then the GT 40 for a couple more ,the prizes were a piece of the local granite or slate -- so, if I'd kept competing we'd have just about enough slate to finish paving the driveway.
These events are basically a flat hill climb of about a 1000M around the back streets of a country town --some cater for the historics, some for the muscle car guys, others for serious racing and sports cars to modern performance types --- a good fund raiser for these comunities --( Leyburn, Gatton, Pittsworth, Speed on Tweed, Noosa, Mt Cootha )

Tim, Ross the Skelta is F'ugly but Quick --did you see it in the Targa ? no?--thats how quick it is:laugh:

Pete , I'm starting to feel like Denis (Thatcher)

Jac, you're welcome here any time -- as long as you're prepared talk Chevy:shocked:

The Link on Flatchats post worked for me this morning, probably caught the ABC police napping before work:)

Thanks for the 3 emails Tim:).

Flatchat, Im quite prepped to talk about Chevy, But would you listen? You must be a real slave driver at home, your poor missus is out there trying to win the last paving stones for the driveway while your tinkering in the shed on that Lola with the SD Chevy.

Leyburn reminds me the small town in WA that I was asked to leave- doesnt pay to blow the doors off a Holden with a Ford in outback OZ, especially when the holden is owned by one of the more staunch local types:)
