Hello all

I'm just in the research phase of my next project. I've been looking at the Ultima, AC cobra and now the SLC. Lot of great information in this site and I look forward to reading them all and being more familiar with the RCR SLC.

I'm torn between the Ultima and the SLC. Both seems to be well engineered kits. Just need to figure out what makes the most sense for my requirements.

At any rate, wanted to say hallo to you all and hope you'll put up with some of my 'silly' questions that I may have in the future.

Lots of good info on this site re the SLC, and there are many owners active here to help you get a sense of the kit.

Many of the SLC builders looked at the Ultima as well, but I think most everyone would agree that the SLC is a much more modern car, with better looks, a more rigid chassis, better suspension and a much better interior.

The Ultima may be able to be built as a slightly lighter car, though I think the two are pretty close in equal trim.

Nowadays, with exchange rates as they are, it's probably cheaper to build an equal-spec SLC. It's also a domestic product, so parts and shipping, not to mention support, are easier if you are in North America.

And of course, you can use a much wider range of engines in the SLC, as the Ultima factory only supports the SBC and LS engines. The SLC was designed from the start to allow a very wide choice of builder-selected engines.

It's really up to you, but I know of several people who have had Ultimas who are now building SLCs. I haven't heard of the reverse...

Good luck in your search, and don't be shy about asking questions. We are a pretty friendly bunch. :)

I had looked at the Ultima too, but decided on the SL-C because of the more modern construction and styling. One look at the proto SL-C at RCR was all that it took!
